I think the judges have limited skills to being to feedback in a positive but constuctive manner. I think they have run out of their one liners and are now using the old lines.
i.e picked walnuts, gave him a laugh last time, now he keeps using it.
They are not quick enough minded to think up better comments.

Why not go the whole hog and gaffer tape their mouths shut? They are part of this show (and an important part at that). Can we just stop this hysterical over-reaction to a man walking out because he has to fulfill his contractual obligations elsewhere

Rather dramatic hyperbole is this not, my suggestions go nowhere near this, infact I am at pains to say that critique of the dance in the show should be accepted.

This is opinion and not fact.

Actually I very much like the answer whatever the question. I think the judges are there to do the judging, and apart from that they should stop preaching the same old tune. I dont' want to enter the discussion on whether this is a dance competition or an entertainment show with a dance element (after all "I'm a Celeb get me out of here, is clearly a show about survival training and not an entertainment show with survival skills aspects).

However, the judges overdid their dramatic little bits this time, and they were quite contradictive. Len said at the beginning of last week's show that of course they are just doing the judging, and it's up to us who we want to keep in. At the end of the elimination show, he was too upset to speak, because Cherie has been voted off, because the GBP were too stupid to follow the simple instruction from the judges. It was a stupid comment anyway, because even if John had been in the dance off, he would still have had either Lisa or Cherie in the dance off as well. And then this week, they would still need to vote off a potentially good dancer. It's ridiculous.

Anyway, another point. They gave Lisa less points than Cherie. This clearly means that if we follow the judges instructions, Lisa should have gone instead of Cherie, or am I getting something wrong. Oh no, of course the judges decided in the dance off that now Lisa was better than Cherie (by the way this is not a dig at Lisa, I really don't mind that she staid in). It's just an example of that the judges told us that this was the line-up on that show, and then they decided to change their minds in the dance-off anyway.

I think a lot of people are blaming the judges unfairly for the JS fisaco. They are just puppets for the shows producers remember. Anything they say, would have had to be OK'd by the producer. The whole thing is scripted anyway. And Arlene let slip the other day that they are told who to save- or words to that effect.

When did she say that? I don't believe that she would say such a thing even if it was true, because it would mean that the show is rigged.

If judges say --

"Poor dancers should stand aside for good dancers,"

then BBC licence payers can say --

"Poor judges should stand aside for good judges."

There is no shortage of ex world champion judges at the Blackpool Festival of Dance.

She was on GMTV the other week and in response to one of the presenters saying to her that once JS was in dance- off he'd be gone she started to say something like "only if we are instructed...." She changed the subject quickly and so the speculation was that she meant they are instructed what to do.

They should judge the dancing.
NOT the dancers.

The courage (or otherwise) of the dancers is none of their concern.
John was rarely offered constructive criticism.
It was clear that he was just there to fill the quota and be the token "old geezer".
The joke certainly wore thin with the judges who were unable to respect the opinions of thousands of viewers who actually enjoyed watching John and Kristina perform.

I would like to see a change in the judging line-up. None of them has come out of this with much credit.

Thanks for the clarification. I assume it was out of context then, and we will never know what she really meant. One thing is sure, if John had been in the dance-off, it would have been no contest that he was out, even if the other couple had fallen over 4 times, and danced a robot dance backwards.

I agree. The judges are there to judge the dance, and then in their second role, to decide in their professional opinion between the bottom two from the public vote.

If they're commenting on anything else they're out of their remit. DITTO any professional dancers commenting on who should or shouldn't be going and WHAT people are voting on.

Having been on p&O Cruises like the one John Sergeant is going on may I say we have never known about guest speakers until they are seen.

I have never seen them used to sell tickets for the cruises and it could well be that a few weeks ago P&O saw John on Strictly and said would he and his wife fancy a nice cruise, payment will be a couple of talks. Both parties (P&O plus John) assuming he certainly would never ever get to the 2 dance stage of the competition.

Geoff Capes was a speaker on a cruise we went on this year, didn't know he was aboard until we sat at the next table at dinner. A fellow passenger told me how lucky he had been that Katherine Jenkins joined the cruisehe was on, gave a concert then got off at the next stop. No one knew in advance, just a wonderful surprise.

I doubt that this cruise is a longstanding commitment or that it P&O would have insisted it was honoured. They would just have asked him onto a different ship when he was out of the competition.

Hi krisskross, totallly off the subject but did you enjoy the cruise? Was it value for money? Did you take your laptop and was there wireless broadband all over the ship including the cabins, or did you connect to ethernet cable?
