Kitten left in with workmen!!!
RAINBOWGIRL22

This morning I was expecting someone to come round and check my boiler out as its nearing the end of it's life!! I was expecting them to look at old boiler and arrange the replacement with me etc - thought they would be done in 10 minutes.... Imagine my surprise when they said they were actually going to fit the new bolier today

It was going to take a few hours though so I had to leave to come to work. I left my little one secured in the living room with her litter tray, food and water - and of course advised work men there is a little cat about so not to go into the living room, but he needed to change the valves on the radiator so I asked him to be careful as she will either a) make a bid for freedom or b) scratch him to pieces

He promised not to let her out, but she is so naughty and very ingenious when it comes to getting out....

The guy would have had the front door on the latch (we are in a block with a communial door we all share)

Anyway - the works should be done now and I am so paranoid that my kitten has been somehow locked out? Or escaped.....

I didn't realise I would be leaving people in the flat - it was all a bit 11th hour!!!

I wish I had asked him to call me when he left? I have the number of his manager but feel a bit pathetic calling to see if they left my kitten in one piece

The BF should be home by about 5pm and keeps telling me not to be so silly........

I am hoping she just hid but as I say I know how naughty she is

Is it common for work men to be left in with pets? Do they listen to owner when they advise them to "be careful of cat escaping"?

We've had the same lot in a few times, for a few weeks at a time, and they're been really good about keeping doors shut and making sure cats didn't escape or get into places they shouldn't.

I imagine it's something they must have to deal with quite a bit so the vast majority should be fine with it.

As my BF told me a million times of course she was OK - and I was being a fusspot as usual

I think it's because I wasn't expecting the work men to stay? If I'd known I would have got her fully secured in another room etc...

Oh well, at least we now have a new boiler!!

I'm the same, Rainbowgirl. My cat is nearly 9 years old and my husband says I'm paranoid about her. If I call her and she doesn't come for a few minutes or I can't see her in the garden, I'm petrified and convinced she's gone and I'll never see her again. We can't go on holiday at all without me worrying myself sick about her, and I'd NEVER put her in a cattery, after the look on her face the one time I did.
