I really like him and don't understand why people say he is smug- I don't think he is at all. I hope he won't go early due to lack of public support, because he is definately the best after Austin. His salsa last week was the best dance of the night imo.

He's not smug - Just very very confident and what is wrong with that??
I love him on holby and love him in this. I suppose when interviewed he does come across as really confident, and as the brits usually like an underdog or people who are shy and retiring that's why he won't have mass appeal. |

I am a Geth fan who desperately wanted to like Tom and support him for Camilla's sake more than anything, but I just cant take to him. He is probably a lovely man with none of the smug/arrogant tags that have dogged him, but I dont like him.
He has been good from week 1, infact too good for me there is no where for him to go and therefore he doesnt wow me, his quickstep was pretty amazing BUT I felt he could have done that from week 1 without Camillas intervention. A friend said to me that if Gethin had danced that quickstep he would have got 4 10s and I agreed because it would have been such a wow moment because it would have been a bit unexpected just like his Salsa. This is a case of too good too soon. Even Austin who is good exudes a certain vulnerability and therefore seems more interesting. So for me thats whats wrong with Tom whispers........the face expression doesnt help one little bit either. |

I'm a Austin and Jodie (yes it's two couples I didn't get the partnership wrong
) supporter. However, I don't think there is anything wrong with Tom. He seems a lovely person, very down to earth and he clearly is very talented. I do agree that he overdoes the facial expressions a bit, but all of them have their annoying habits. I just wish that people would give more constructive criticisms instead of saying "Tom is smug, Austin is way better" or "Austin is crap, Tom is brilliant". It's not just a competition between the two of them, and liking one of them should not automatically mean that you dislike the other one. |

Wasn't that the same with Jill Halfpenny-good from the start.
That is like holding it against him-that doesn't seem fair P.S Tom Chambers Appreciatin Society has started (whispers it) |

I also completely agree with cassieconvinced that the 'wow' is harder to earn for Tom - but I think that is true for almost everyone left in, so I don't think it hurts Tom and Camilla's chances that much. |

I don't get the "smug" thing either. I think he comes across as a genuinely nice guy and a really talented dancer. Sometimes he comes across like an exciteable child when he gets good marks, it's very endeering!
I think his problem (like what I thought with Emma Bunton) is that he's people's second favourite. Nobody I know (outside of DS) dislikes him, in fact most of my friends want him to be in the final, but they all have favourites over and above him... that could hinder his chances!

It's not that Tom's a horrible person because he seems like a nice bloke, and he CAN dance. For me it's just that his dances don't "grab" me like some of the others do, they don't hold my imagination. Also, he can come across quite hyper and over the top, which can be a good quality in some people and make them "infectious" but with Tom that's not the case FOR ME.
Also, Camilla has never been my favourite pro. She does an good job choreographing but I've just never, in all the 6 series, warmed to her or enjoyed her dancing. I can understand why others like Tom so much though. He just doesn't float my boat. |

I just cannot warm to him at all. I find him highly irritating and dare I say it.......smug!
I think he is by far the smugest in the competition.

Tom is a good dancer and is improving all the time. Best of luck to the fella (but as a rugby fan I want Austin to win even if he was from those nasty Tiggers from up the road)!
What put me off Tom (and I know that it probably wasn't really his fault) was the whole bleddy *ahem* "W" thing! Over and over again on ITT, the build-up, the vicar in the audience on SCD, every blinkin' chance they had to shoe-horn a "W" reference in, blimey, did we get it! ![]() Anyway, what I think doesn't matter cos nanny h loves him and wants him to win. So, that's that, then.

I like Tom, I loved him in Holby - quite fancied his character Sam Strachan, but I can see what other people are saying about his funny faces and campness.
![]() Do you think it might work if he were to pretend he is Dr Strachan dancing with Camilla and perhaps he'd keep that very sexy and macho persona?

How long have you got? Er - he can dance and he could dance before he even entered the show. So no excitement seeing him learn "new" skills.
Then, there's the bizarre facial expressions - is he constipated or something? Because he looks like he's in pain. |

I don't think he could really dance before the show. Of course he is an actor, and he probably has some experience, but they all have their advantages.

I can't say there's anything 'wrong' with him. But I can say I just don't warm to him, he doesn't elicit any response at all from me, I think he's not endearing, he doesn't connect either with his partner or the viewer. And I think those things are vital when you're dancing for an audience.
Dance is supposed to elicit something in the viewer... emotion... and all I get from Tom is that he's very sure of himself. That's perhaps fine in particular dances, but generally I want to see him conveying other emotions, and eliciting them in me. He leaves me... bored. |

Did you see the Fred Astaire tap video he did? It was amazing (that the producers let him on knowing that was around on You Tube).

Tom seems like a nice guy. I have no idea why people think he's smug, he just comes across as very excited and bubbly to me.
He's definitely got rhythm as well, but for some reason I find I just don't enjoy watching him dance. He always seems a bit manic to me, as if he's overdoing it, and I find all the facial expressions, be they the quickstep persona or the paso persona, really off-putting. Admittedly the manic-ness could be Camilla's influence as I get the same feelings watching her dance, even when she's with Ian. I like them when they're interviewed on ITT, I just find their whole dance partnership a bit tedious, over-hyped and not particularly enjoyable to watch. I'm in the minority amongst my friends though, most people I know love him. |

I'm not a huge fan of Camilla either - I don't dislike her, but she always seems so....desperate? (I'm not sure if that's the right word). The expression didn't help. |

From the Friday dance demo, Tom has finally got his expression right for a 'serious' dance such as the tango.
Good for him! With that excellent music choice, I am actually looking forward to seeing him dance. Can't believe I actually said that!!

I don't know what it is about him but, I really can't take to him. I'm sorry but there's no way I'd pick up my phone to vote for him no matter how well he danced.
