I find it very difficult to believe that people think Tom is smug and arrogant. From what I've seen of him on the show, in ITT and in the press, he seems like a really decent, nice, normal bloke.
I get the impression he is being 100% himself, loves dancing and isn't just in the show to further his career. His dancing has been consistently good, he obviously works hard and tries to improve on his mistakes. I don't think he's at all smug. I'm puzzled why people think he is, as I've seen no evidence so far. Yes, his Paso face was arrogant, as was his tango, but he is an actor!!! I would love to see him win as I think he's been consistently good and his enthusiasm is terrific. |

If you are a good-looking male actor who does well you get called smug - Tom this year, Matt last year, Chris Fountain on DOI. It's a nice catchall insult because you don't even have to do anything wrong to get called it.

I hate his dancing face, it pains me to watch, possibly something to do with Camilla being his pro. Plus, he just comes across as slightly... needy, I think.

Before I thought he was a bit smug but quite rightly I have found that to not be true and now I want him to win.

I really like Tom and would like to see him win. Some of his dances are not quite so polished as Austin's (comparing their individual tangos) but Tom tries to take on the character of the each dance; sometimes maybe he overdoes the acting - but better bit too much than none at all.

It's more - what's RIGHT with him?
I just find him a bit meh... Like Rachel. Austin can be actively unpleasant. Mostly in a rugby context though. But if he gets voted out I think he'll have something to say about it! Christine I do think is a decent girl. Lisa? A bit meh.. I haven't warmed to anyone other than Jodie. |

Tom looks like he is loving every moment of Strictly- that and being an amazing dancer is why he gets my votes
Rachel- lacks the endearing personality that Aleesha had and Tom does have Vote Tom to win |

Can't put my finger on why exactly, but he does come across as a bit smug. He's very agile and I enjoy watching him dance - paso face aside - but, despite seeing that he's basically a nice bloke, there's something about him that gets on my nerves.

Both Tom and Austin come across as arrogant. Austin's face shows his disdain for some critical comments. Although, predictably, he doesn't receive any criticism from posters for his arrogance. As a dancer, and because he is less arrogant than Austin, I prefer Tom.
Position according to cum scores week 9 Rachel ) Tom ) Cherie Austin (Utterly ridiculous, of course, that Cherie is not still in the competition) Week 10 Rachel Tom Austin Lisa |

What's wrong with Tom ? he is dancing with Camilla ...... though I believe he may win despite her .I would have loved to see him with another of the ladies , Karen or Lilia , but not Ola .
I had hoped to change my opinion of Austin based on his rugby playing days , but I haven't . |

![]() Chris Fountain was robbed dammit!! ![]() There isn't anything wrong with any of them, its just chemistry, between the public and the couples as much as the couples themselves. We all relate to different aspects of who we watch, I recognise familiar things in some that make me like them more than others. The quickstep was great by Tom, he really did shine in that dance.

What's wrong with Tom?
Actually less and less as the days go by. He's really growing on me. I do think Camilla is a bit marmite and perhaps Tom would have come across better with another partner. Camilla came across very well with Gethin (sorry for the comparisons - can't help it) because he was more reserved and she brought him out of himself. Tom didn't need that as he's a pretty outgoing guy already. So anyone who doesn't like Camilla/marmite is going to feel irritated by the partnership. I was too (a bit) early on. But I'm getting over that now. |

footygirl , I am not enamoured of Camilla's routines , I don't know her and no personal judgemnt is intended .
I find her routines to be much more about her and not at all about her celebrity. For example Ray's paso doble . Their QS was very refeshing as it was one of the only routines of Camilla's which have been all about what her celebrity can do and nothing about her . Tom is fine , I think he will win . |

I can't really imagine Tom being partnered with anyone else - once the partnerships are formed, I just think of them that way.
And the suggestion for Tom to be partnered with Karen is awful! Her overacting is far more pronounced than Camilla's. Lilia might have done ok with him but I prefer to see new pros in the final (as long as their celeb partners is good that is, and Tom is good). |

I find this year that the actual partnerships , which for me is very important , are dull . Jodie and Ian had a great rapport, but I'm not seeing much with the others .
I don't see a great partnership with Camilla and tom . As for Karen , it is all subjective ; they all use facial expressions as part of their dance . Watch Matt Cutler . Ian or Darren and they are as much " guilty ", if not more , as Karen . I think she would have played to Tom's strengths more and would not have let him be as camp as he has been . |

It is subjective but some pros do use their facial expressions far more than others i.e. Karen and Camilla as opposed to Lilia and Ola. Whether this is appealing or not is down to taste.
I'm not convinced Karen would have done a better job. I remember how she ruined what could have been a fantastic jive for Ramps by making it all about her and choreographing a ridiculously difficult routine. She kept harping on about it being "her dance" etc. and that whole series and thereafter she has refered to the win as "making history". She's nice enough, but her naturally strong, bubbly personality does make her slightly hogging of the limelight. |

I really like Tom and Camilla together, they have gelled really well. TBH I've enjoyed their dancing the most, the other couples have left me cold. |
