Sony C905 battery question
Our new Sony C905 phones have arrived this afternoon, and are currently sat on charge as per the advice given - is it strictly necessary to charge them for a full 16 hours before using them, or would we get away with getting them set up whilst plugged in tonight, then leave them on charge overnight so that I can take the phone to work with me tomorrow?

Does the manual say to charge them for 16 hours? It would be unusual if it did as this sort of long charging is only suitable for old fashioned Nicad and Nimh batteries. Indeed modern batteries will have their life shortened by overcharging, so phones include a charging circuit that switches off the current to the battery when its charged.

Not had chance to read the manual yet, but this was the (admittedly general) advice in the email order confirmation from Orange - however, my thoughts were working along the lines that these have really new Lithium Polymer technology, that shouldn't need such an extensive soak charge to start with.
I'll dig the manual out in a minute and double check it before unplugging them. Thanks

I only charged it for about 4 hours and it holds its charge fine. Not quite as long as my old W850i but it has a bigger screen, etc. But it rarely gets to 100%. Leave it charging overnight, disconnect, and its on 99% charge. Weird.

Doesn't say anything about charging for 16 hours in my manual, and it always reaches 100%
