So I've bought my mum a steamer for xmas as a stocking filler as it was only £6.99 and she had said she would like one a few weeks ago. My question is
What can i cook in there?
Will it be tasteless as in boiled chicken???
I know its healthier to steam veg with regards to nutriants etc

You could steam chicken breasts, fish, vegetables.

To make things like chicken less boring what I did when I used to have a steamer was put the chicken on a bit of cling film, add garlic, herbs, chilli, onions... whatever you fancy and completely wrap it in cling film and then pop it in the steamer.

At least then you don't just have a plain boring chicken breast.

Steamers are totally fab for veg. Quick and keeps all the goodness in! Chicken can be seasoned like the poster above mentioned. Turns out beautifully succulent. Don't forget a sauce can be knocked up in a pan while the steamer is cooking!

I like to steam broccoli with carrots cut into little matchsticks (they steam at the same rate as the broccoli if cut that small) and then once it's steamed, I squeeze a tiny bit of lemon juice on it and sprinkle it with a bit of sea salt and fresh grated parmesan. It's yum!

Agree on the fish and vegatables.

Haven't tried it with chicken - od=ften use the George Formby for that.

I have one of the Tefal steamers but it's never used. If you have a Chinese supermarket/store nearby (I'm in London, so Chinatown is the pace) get a bamboo steamer. Each layer, and the lid, costs about £3 each and I find them far more convenient and quicker.
