I love this show

Some surprising ratings last night, obviously due to the football and the weather.

The One Show pulls in it's lowest figures in ages, as does Corrie, but the share still very high.

It's quite surprising though that a documentary on BBC1 is only 0.1m behind ratings banker The Bill on ITV1.

What seems to be happening is most people are tuning in at 8pm as from there onwards is when the strong figures come in i.e The Apprentice, with an amzing peak!

To be honest, I'd be floored if they were to renew it. Its fate was sealed after the very first week and the critical dressing-down it took. Its just not the kind of thing that promotes the right image of ITV.

Superb ratings for The Apprentice yet again. Its just gathering more and more momentum - its become real watercooler TV. Bitching about the contestants has become my favourite Thursday morning activity! It will be very interesting to see how it responds to different opposition from ITV over the coming weeks. If it continues on the path its on though, maybe ITV would be wise to concede defeat and keep their better shows for another night.

What was Corrie's share last night, I can't see anything for it?
I think The ONE Show will always have its ups and downs - its still been a good thing for BBC ONE though.

Oh yes, I'm not denying that-it's been a huge success and both Emmerdale & The One Show were hit last night and I think for the next few weeks anyway it'll be the early evening schedule that'll suffer for the most part due to the weather.

Corrie's share was 43% last night

According to Matt Pinder on the soap ratings thread 43%.

Cool - still lower than usual - Corrie can draw between 45%-50% of the audience most nights. EastEnders absolute peak seems to be 43%, or 43.5% at most. Its lowest is something like 37%-38% for a regular episode and below 30% against Emmerdale.

I agree with you - Emmerdale and The ONE Show are going to suffer. I wonder whether Emmerdale will dip below 6 million this summer, it seems likely. The ONE Show may end up below 3 million but thats less damaging than Emmerdale losing its audience like that.

Emmerdale will definetely dip below 6 million I think as it's already in the low 6 millions now, also the show is in a poorer state now, opposed to this time last year which was preparing for the culmination of the long running Tom King storyline.

Corrie low there only 200,000 in front of Tuesdays Eastenders and that had huge comeptition from a big football game on ITV1 - corrie is dire now though !

That ep of Corrie was particularly poor wouldnt surprise me if it gradually lost an audience possiibly to the footie.

I don't really watch the soaps ratings, but can anyone tell me if the gap appears to be closing between EE and Corrie? Or are they both just declining? And is it possible that BGT could regularly be the #1 show for the next few weeks if it sticks a bit over 9 million?

Compared to last year Eastenders is up, with more episodes over the 11 million mark, not sure about Corrie, but I think it is slipping a bit.

Emmerdale- 7.85m

The official average at this stage in 2007 was:
EE- 9.38m , Corrie- 10.99m (difference of 17.14%)

EE's audience has dropped by only 10,000 (0.1%). Corrie's audience has dropped by 160,000 (1.5%). Corrie's drop is more than EastEnders. EastEnders' average is now very close to the same time last year, which is impressive considering this year much more episodes have clashed with Emmerdale. Just for an indication, excluding the Emmerdale clash episodes, EE's 2008 average is 9.92m, which is well above the 2007 average at this point last year.

Heroes saves the day

The return of the US sci-fi drama import Heroes pulled in 3.7 million viewers to BBC2 last night, April 24.

Heroes began its second series with a share of 16% between 9pm and 9.50pm, according to unofficial overnights.

Background show Heroes Unmasked, which immediately followed the series two opener between 9.50pm and 10pm, attracted 2.7 million viewers and a 12% share.

Last night's audience for the NBC Universal series was down on the series one opener last on BBC2 last July, which had 4.3 million viewers and a 19% share.

But last night's episode, the first of 11, did beat the ITV1 opposition in the 9pm hour.

Britain's Rich List: Giving It Away, in which Duncan Bannatyne examined the nation's wealthy philanthropists prior to the publication this weekend of the Sunday Times Rich List, was watched by 2.7 million viewers and drew a 12% share.

At the same on BBC1, the monthly instalment of Crimewatch pulled in 4.7 million with a 21% share.

Channel 4's 9pm offering, an edition of Cutting Edge called Strictly Baby Fight Club about the world of Thai child boxing, averaged 1.4 million viewers and a 6% share over the hour. An additional 164,000 watched on catch-up service Channel 4+1 an hour later.

The sixth instalment of Channel Five's US import House scored 2 million viewers and a 9% share, also over the 9pm hour.

Some people aren't happy with the figures for Heroes - they reckon the 4.3m for the start of Season 1 was affected by having been on Sci Fi already, which Season 2 couldn't use as an excuse. Still, the BBC should be happy, as it's competing with CSI as the top US show on British TV.

Those figures are brilliant considering fans have been downloading the episodes since last September.

Heroes isn't on the iplayer yet. Anyone know if it has been held back from it for some reason?

Well that's silly. I'm surprised, 3.7m is brilliant, especially when the first series fell as low as 2m towards the end.

And like the person above says, lots of people download it after it's been shown in america

I suspect it's the same reason as last year. The online rights are held by someone else ("hulu", IIRC).
