why do 60,000 people watch ITV nighscreen?????
Someone ( I can't remember if it was on here or not) said that ''the music was good after a night getting drunk'' or words to that effect.

Not good for BB

Hopefully that was just a one off because of The Apprentice. In comparison to the first Wednesday of each series (I know I do this a lot but its only for the first week ) it compares as follows.

BB1- 3.2m
BB2- 4.4m
BB3- 5.0m
BB4- 3.6m
BB5- 4.7m
BB6- 4.8m
BB7- 5.8m
BB8- 4.8m (first highlights- first Wednesday was launch night)
BB8- 3.0m (inc C4+1)

So quite a drop from previous years but it was up against the final Apprentice: You're Fired which rated highly so that probably had an effect.

Tonight its back on at 9pm and has no real competition targetted at the same demographic.

Hopefully tomorrows eviction will break the 4m barrier especially as they've been advertising it quite well.
It got more than last years then cause including ch4+1 it was over 3Million

While this thread has mostly been about ratings, it has sprung up some interesting discussion like how ITV is performing and how it could be improved and whether there should be a British version of So You Think You Can Dance. I will be continuing to post as it such a great thread and hope others do too.

I remember the old days of TV ratings being put on Page 3 of the tabloids, and the feelings of embarrassment when trying to look at them (the ratings!) in public!

EE 8pm Breakdown
20.00 5.64m
20.05 6.07m
20.10 6.26m
20.15 6.37m
20.20 6.47m
20.25 6.69m
20.30 6.98m
20.35 7.02m
20.40 7.22m
20.45 7.46m
20.50 7.63m
20.55 7.07m
Based on that, the first half an hour (the episode meant to air today) got 6.25m as an average.

And, the second half and hour (the episode meant to air today) got 7.23m as an average.

Note: I worked that out using Calculator simply by adding the respective values up and dividing by six, so it's probably wrong.

How do Saturday mornings usually rate on ITV1? Not so bothered about any show in particular, just an idea of the figures to see how they compare to the old Saturday morning shows they air. So time slot, I would say 9.25am-11.30am.

One feels like ITV1 would kill for The Apprentice in terms of the audience they could advertise to!

A belated happy 500th ratings thread, would have come on earlier but just got back from a 48hr ban.

Cant believe its the soaps ratings 500th aswell, takes freeky to the next level. Have a strange feeling this page will be resurected at the next big milestone so hello DS'ers of 2010!

Also well done The Apprentice!

This is true, and looking back at the thread it hasn't just been rzt, George S has been integral along with A Cillay, Zoe McAllister and a long list of others giving opinions and providing news to this thread so we can read and discuss. Without them, we would certainly not be on Page 500.

Well of course the whole thread isn't just down to one person. There wouldn't be a thread if we all didn't contribute.

That list really is quite worrying for me, this thread is such a guilty pleasure. Didnt even know what ratings were this time a year ago.

What does everyone think the BBC should do with BBC1's early evening schedules now that Coronation St and Emmerdale are all over weeknights.

I think something like this...

MONDAY

7.00 The One Show
7.30 Celebrity Masterchef (Twice weekly, Mondays and Fridays)
8.00 EastEnders
8.30 Panorama

TUESDAY

7.00 The One Show
7.30 EastEnders
8.00 Holby City

WEDNESDAU

7.00 The One Show
7.30 Watchdog
8.00 What Not To Wear

THURSDAY

7.00 The One Show
7.30 EastEnders
8.00 Waterloo Road

FRIDAY

7.00 The One Show
7.30 Celebrity Masterchef
8.00 EastEnders
8.30 A Question of Sport

Not that much different I know, but no point in changing things that are doing well. I think that would be a pretty solid line-up if they move Waterloo Road to year-round like Holby City.

They would need replacements for What Not to Wear and Celebrity Masterchef though as there is no way they can run them all year.

I thought Celebrity Masterchef was a BBC2 show. Wasn't it in the 8pm slot that Springwatch also uses? TBH its going to do much better for BBC2 than BBC1.

Interesting to read Jeff Randell today suggesting that ITV should use Phillip Green ex of M&S for an Apprentice type show. I'm sure Randell has the ear of Michael Grade, so you never know

If it did work it would have to be as a light entertainment reality show. Tycoon failed because it didn't have pantomime characters like Sugar or Simon Cowell as judges and actually tried to take the business side more seriously than the Apprentice, which clearly isn't the way to a mass audience.
