like most people have said BB isnt doing that bad!

Someone posted the 5 min breakdown, and it got another million after the football ended!

I also dont see why channel 4 cant put it on at 10 every night!!! wasnt that one of there reasons why Desperate Housewives was axed?
and on the neighbours topic... yes the numbers have dropped but at the moment its the summer and its up agains football?
As far as I'm concerned it is on at 10pm as nearly every day I've watched it on ch4+1. The only time of year that i watch the plus 1 chanels is during BB.
They said that BB won out over the brothers and sisters incest program on ITV but then they dont take into account the people who are now going to download it and watch it off the itv catch up which is exactly what I was intending on doing.
These days what with time shift channels, everything repeated numerous times in 24 hours, and also then bbc/itv and ch4 having alot of their programs available off the internet the people who watch the program first time round when it's broadcast except for something live like a final or sport doesn't really count.

yes, but theres no way Neighbours would have dropped to under a million on BBC one
I don't think neighbours would even be on. It always had a break when the euro or world cup was on

I would rather have Neighbours off air for 2 weeks than see the ratings this bad.

Because they registered with the same name. There's an old saying: Beautiful mind think alike.
Its not just ratings that DS news is slow on

Back to BB ratings, I wonder if they will improve after Euro? With a match on every night it runs past 9pm it will obviously dent BB a bit because of BB's male audience.

Monday-Wednesday I know are on at 10pm but I still think that even though the shows aren't directly against eachother it could still have some kind of impact.

EDIT: 5 minute breakdown from last night

21.00 1.24m
21.05 1.52m
21.10 1.55m
21.15 1.34m
21.20 1.60m
21.25 1.65m
21.30 1.34m
21.35 2.27m
21.40 2.19m
21.45 2.02m
21.50 2.32m
21.55 2.52m

The match ended at 9.30pm- BB gained almost 1m viewers by 9.35pm which suggests it has been hit by Euro.
Right then, so...:

21:00 - 21:30 Average: 1.48m
21:30 - 22:00 Average: 2.11m

Splitting it down even further....

21:00 - 21:15 Average: 1.43m
21:15 - 21:30 Average: 1.53m
21:30 - 21:45 Average: 1.93m
21:45 - 22:00 Average: 2.29m

I'd love to see the 1 minute ratings from 21:30 to 21:35 to see how many extra viewers tuned in each minute. And yes, I think the footie is hurting BB, and as it gets to the latter stages, it will continue to hurt BB.

I don't get this weird mindset of (mostly) older people who only watch BBC One or ITV1 and never watch BBC Two, Channel 4 or Five. Shows that transferred from BBC Two to BBC One often see a ratings increase even though nothing's been altered while a show that transfers to a smaller channel always loses ratings.

I think that once Digital Switchover occurs and when these older people pass on in the next ten-twenty years, we could see the smaller terrestrial channels on an equal playing field as BBC One and ITV1.

Um, okay thanks for that silly acronym.

The original Roscoe signed up yonks before you, I don't understand. Seems a stupid move to me, unless your name is ACTUALLY Roscoe Barnes.

Lmao.

I actually think the 2nd roscoeBarnes has some kind of problem with the 1st Roscoe Barnes, so signed up as roscoeBarnes to cause friction. I think it's related to soap ratings.

Deary me. If people want to argue and cause friction over ratings they should really get out more

Personally I am not surprised by the second games low figures. Greece v Russia had uninteresting written all over it.
With the Lottery show and Casualty the BBC have a couple of stalwarts that will always have a reasonable figure, rising when ITV have little in opposition but also providing a fair share when ITV have blockbusters like BGT. In fact the Lottery show is worth pitching against BGT, X Factor etc as a certain body of people are always going to watch.

As for Dr Who, it is and always has been fabulous entertainment-a bit of BBC Hollywood and brilliant escapism- though I still maintain it should be winter fare, not playing out its season finales in potentially bright sunshine and high temps.
I agree - I think when Doctor Who returns proper in 2010 it should begin a week after its 2009 Christmas Special. In the first few months of the year it could easily get 9-11 million every Saturday night.

God the Ratings Thread is really alive at the moment too - I'm always surprised/impressed by how many posts/pages there are at the moment.

So why do you have virtually the same username as someone else?

Is your name Roscoe Barnes? I don't think so.

Good going for The Two Ronnies Sketchbook. Perhaps the BBC might repeat the whole series this time, rather than just the first three episodes!

Apparently Roscoe means: "From The Deer Forest"

The origin of the name Roscoe is Scandinavian.
