This tennis is quite gripping. I think BBC 1 will do well.

The Tennis was a great watch and I don't even like Tennis! Should be a good lead in for Criminal Justice which looks quite good.
Will be interesting what the ratings for that hour on BBC One, I would say between 6-8m. EDIT - Just had a thought, will the overrunning of the tennis and CJ starting late mean News at Ten may come on top tonight? |

Re the tennis on Wednesday - the first match on Centre Court will be Federer v Ancic for certain. Federer has won every match so far in straight sets. If he does this again, Nadal v Murray wil start soon after 3pm which would mean it could easily finish by 6pm. If it isn't over by 6pm, it should be near the end which I think would lead to a delayed News/Regional News rather than them switching to BBC2.
Obviously if Federer does not win in straight sets then the Nadal v Murray match will start later and I think it would be a case of BBC deciding what to do based on the exact state of the match, like they did tonight. |

2 mens quarter final matches on court 1 the other 2 on centre.
The Murray match will 100% be second on centre therefore an estimated 4pm start. |

See the BBCs mantra of ratings don't matter hasn't quite stretched to yesterday evening.
![]() They could have easily kept the tennis on BBC2, and aired On the Fiddle/Criminal Justice/BBC News at Ten at the normal time. The BBC1 schedule was a lot fresher than the BBC2 plan, which were programmes which, in all honesty, could have simply be moved to another date. The obvious reason for the change was so CJ didn't clash with the tennis, as it would effect the rest of the week's ratings of CJ. |

I'm so glad murray is through
![]() A bit annoyed that Tipsarevic, Djokovic, Ivanovic and Jankovic have all failed to make it to the QF's. I expect that the classic Federer V Nadal won't pull that many viewers, but Maybe a Williams V Williams would on the Women's side of things! |

Phew...4 pages since last night to read through!
I think NaT will get a boost last night, but BBC News will probably still win. I'm annoyed the tennis was moved to BBC1 as I am not a fan of the tennis, but wanted to watch Criminal Justice so I ended up waiting nearly 40 minutes, and so gave up at 10.10, however I'll give it another go tonight. Even though the tennis will get good ratings on BBC1, it could have harmed the Criminal Justice audience, or boosted it, however there could be many people like myself who gave up. |

The average age of viewers to shows in the US is getting older http://www.variety.com/VR1117988273.html Quote:
At ABC, youngest series was "Supernanny" (with a median age of 41), while oldest was "Women's Murder Club" (57). At CBS, youngest was "How I Met Your Mother," "Kid Nation" and the Tuesday edition of "Big Brother," tied at 45; oldest was "60 Minutes" (60). NBC's youngest show was "Scrubs" (34), and oldest was "Monk" (58).
At Fox, the youngest shows were "American Dad" and "Family Guy" (29), while the oldest was "Canterbury's Law" (55). At CW, "One Tree Hill" was youngest (26), while "Life Is Wild" was oldest (45). Among latenight gabbers, "Tonight Show With Jay Leno" is oldest, with a median age of 54, followed by "Late Show With David Letterman" at 53. Interestingly, "Nightline" -- which should conceivably be older than those talkers, is younger, at 52. ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," meanwhile, passed the 18-49 threshold for the first time, clocking in with a median of 50. "Late Night With Conan O'Brien" is getting closer at 46. |

Not that I wish to get into a statistics debate, but do they understand the difference between "median" and "average"? They seem to use the terms interchangably, when they shouldn't. (Without seeing the total population age distribution, it's difficult to be sure, but I think that's getting older too, hence the change, probably)

^ ^^No real surprises there. Police Camera Action pulls in a respectable audience which ITV will be pleased with.
I thought the Disarming Britain season would perform poorly, because although it is in the news a lot it is a sensitive issue which people don't want to watch. |

The Tennis was the most watched show yesterday. I'm not a 100% sure with the timing, but if it ran from 8.30-9.35, it averaged 8.6m. It peaked with 10.65m at 21.30. It's the 14th most watched programme of the year.
Corrie (1) got 7.6m. EastEnders got 7.4m. Corrie (2) also got 7.4m. Sorry don't have the shares atm. It was definitely the right decision to put it on BBC1. The ratings back it up. |
