Makes me think why the Beeb did not think of doing the same thing about BBC1's comedy or drama flops.

I cant see it getting above 0.5m on BBC2 at 1pm TBH

I think the BBC already know that OOTB will be getting figures of around 0.5m. So to make sure it doesn't damage BBC1's All Hours share they've dumped it into BBC2.

Maybe not, but that figure would be more respectable in the context of the BBC Two schedule than dragging down BBC Ones numbers in the afternoon.

Interesting that the BBC are shunting it to BBC2.

Maybe we should have more focus on the BBC's ratings, rather than concentrating on the likes of The Royal Today which was much more successful

Its strange that the BBC dropped their nearly as famous branding of one o'clock, six o'clock, ten o'clock news just to imitate ITV. Of course there will only ever be one News At Ten

I think Pizzatheaction has a fair point. Head to head, EE must have beaten Emmerdale comfortably, because from 7-7.30 Emmerdale probably averaged around 6.3-6.5m. So in the second half an hour, to get an hour average of 5.8m, it must have got around 5.5m.

Emmerdale only has a higher share because it had 7-7.30 up against no major competition. When head to head EE's share was probably 3-4% higher than Emmerdale's.

Maybe someone could explain how Emmerdale gets a bigger share but fewer viewers than Eastenders when both programmes are on at the same time?

Isn't it blatantly obvious? Emmerdale starts at 19:00, 'Enders at 19:30 - both run till 20:00.

Never mind, they'll both rise in officials.

Less people watch television at 19.00 than they do at 19.30, the ratings show this.

TBH, 6.1m seems low for EastEnders, even against Emmerdale. Hasn't it been getting nearer 7m in the past in clashing episodes?

I just caught some of the soap awards. I don't know what it was like for the first hour and a bit, but it seemed a swfit show without the often tedious introductions and bad autocue jokes from the guest presenters? Phillip and Fearne did a good job as well, as can always be expected from them.

I was delighted to see Hollyoaks win and in particular, Emma Rigby. But I do wonder if the soap awards could be a bit down on last year. In the US, there is often concern about Oscars ratings if there isn't a "blockbuster" which picks up loads of nominations. Here we know that the soap which won the most awards isn't one of the "blockbusters".

Also, the weather has been incredible today all around the UK, I believe and The Apprentice is even stronger than before.

But I still don't see any reason why awards shows cant be live (or on a delay if before 9pm). If the soap awards got 6m or so last year when everyone knew the winners, imagine what they could be if nobody knew?

I would say ITV1 wants to avoid soap programmes at the weekend, but imagine it's ratings if it was broadcast after Britain's Got Talent!

yes Eastenders has been getting around 7m against emmerdale lately
but now the weather is warm so people are staying out longer
The soaps clashing and the hot weather has affected them.
