I think it did well on cath up, but ITV have the added problem that allot of fans will watch US pace... so i expect ratings o go down even furthur.
Bit of an off beat ratings queries, but how do UK ratings compare with the top ratings in other European countries? I've seen Spanish tv ratings and they seem well down on what the top UK shows get (even taking into account their 30% or so lower population).
Also one reason why American tv network ratings are dipping so much this year is down to cable news - look at these fairly typical ratings from the 4 cable news channels taken from Wednesday - http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/...ct_1_96391.asp

The problem is that when an idea becomes a hit-like the Apprentice- then any other attempt at similar tv gets unfavourably compared or is completely passed by. It has happened with X Factor-BBC attempts at talent shows have done ok now and then, but the brand "X Factor" is where its at so to speak. The only "golden" rip-off has been DOI, which I suppose was just waiting to be done and I guess the BBC would have been criticised for copying its own programmes had it followed up an interest in that format.
Natural Born Sellers strikes me as desperation telly on ITV's part, there just arent enough formats for a channel that increasingly sets out to entertain at all costs. ITV would do alot better if a week was just 4 days long rather than 7!

Spain has good weather most of the year, so less people stay in to watch tv, simple really. Its a bit like the Uk in the summer when the ratings go down.

I'm not sure its just the weather - some countries have television far more engrained into their culture that others.

I predicted that a few weeks ago.
That said, it might only be a temporary thing because of two weeks of Big Cat Live on Sundays, causing a backlog. I've a sneaky feeling After You've Gone might do slightly better in that slot than it did on Sundays. It's got 4m in occasional Corrie clashes before.
What did Little Britain viewers on this thread think of LB USA? I watch telly with subtitles on, and the subtitle track was different to what was actually broadcast. One punchline had been re-dubbed into something slightly less vulgar, and one sketch in the subtitle track (gym buddies) was removed from the show.
I didn't feel the series had quite the same charm as the previous LB shows. Perhaps HBO are better at drama than comedy?

And having watched Curb Your Enthusiasm, I'd argue HBO are very good at comedy.

I thought it was OK - shame about the editing. Why do you watch with subtitles (unless you are deaf)? But then you wouldn't know it was different.

Niche comedy like Curb (although I thought it was very overrated), perhaps, not stuff like LB.
And those dire, lifeless credits at the end would have suited a state funeral rather than a sketch show.
Some of the direction was flat too. I think HBO sucked the life out of this.

No CL on ITV1 if it is on Oct 28th. Is it some story climax? (sorry dont watch any soaps so I have no clue!)
If its a big story maybe 9m, if not I would say 7m as the soaps dont do as well when shown later in the evening.

The show just didn't feel right to me. Then again, I didn't think much of the Little Britain Abroad thing at Christmas 2006.

True, I didn't think much of the Abroad specials two years ago.
I skimmed the LB thread earlier, and I'm sure someone said the credits were 2 minutes in the US!

That is interesting news. I'm surprised BBC have done this rather than toning the episode down, therefore I would guess it is a climax to a big storyline which needs to be gritty to do the episode justice. I actually haven't a clue how it will rate, but I'm guessing it will air October 28th after Sunshine finishes, as there isn't really any other slot it could air in, unless a new series doesn't start on Mondays beforehand.
Interesting move though and if it rates well it could be an incentive for other soaps to do a similar thing-the last time it happened I remember Corrie having a Mad Maya week with around 7 or 8 episodes in a whole week and IIRC one episode aired at 10pm.

I actually really enjoyed it, although that's maybe because I've been dying to find a decent comedy ever since Benidorm finished and haven't had any luck. I particuarly enjoyed the computer says no sketch, but IMO Lou & Andy have had their day. I do miss the regulars at Majorie Dawes fat fighters though-that didn't feel the same. Although some fresh sketches I liked and I liked the American setting.

Little Britain lost its way a long time ago. They really should have quit after a couple of series. Its just the same old characters pulling out the same old gags every episode. Its just not funny anymore. :yawn:
Theres definately plenty to think about with the Saturday night schedules at the moment. I suppose the wisdom (or not) of the BBC's shifting of Merlin will be proven tomorrow. A SCD lead in should stabilise its audience at 5-5.5m, which I suppose would be viewed as a relative success, given the competition. SCD could struggle to begin with from its early start and lack of lead in, but as the weather worsens and the competition continues, I'm sure we'll see it hitting the heights we've come to expect.
Brittania High is a very difficult one. I agree with Polonius' schedule, sandwiching it between X Factor which would surely bring it the best figures. I guess ITV would argue that 8.45 is just too late to start a family show, but those same people are still going to be staying up to watch the results of X Factor anyway, so it seems to make little sense. In a perfect world, I'm sure they'd love to move everything forward by half an hour or 45 minutes, but their first priority has got to be maximising X Factor numbers, and as such, avoiding SCD.
