How Channel 4 have treated D.H this series makes me think they wont be bidding for anymore rights to other seasons due to costs..I don't think we will see D.H on Ch4 after this season...if we do I will be very surprised!! Shame really because it is a good show!

It's treatment of its other US shows like Without A Trace and ER, however, have been much worse. Moving them around the week without viewers knowing, changing timeslots, stopping it then suddenly continuing it a month later with no promotion. Putting ER at 8pm on Saturday night with no promotion isn't good, especially for a show that has been on C4 for over a decade. It needs to treat its shows with respect. Then maybe they will be worth the amount of the money they keep paying for them.

Without A Trace was delayed so they could show it in a decent slot (allegedly) over a full run

ER is quite strongly marketed on More4 (its not Channel4's show anymore to be honest) and has had a strong and steady run (bar the break which was out of the hands of More4)

But what about My Name Is Earl (which was moved from Fridays to Thursdays to Fridays to Thursday last series and is now behind E4), Scrubs (which C4 delayed by over a year for Series 3 then completely stopped showing it and put it on E4) or Will & Grace (with its last series not even being advertised)?

I ditch the numerous repeats also, theres no need for the 'first look' showing on E4, which gets about 300,000 last time I looked.

and I agree this year has had little promotion. I did feel last weeks episode was the weakest of the series though (Gabby pushing Victor off the boat was bordering on comical) so maybe thats explained the dip this week.

Hmm, it's interesting you think Season 4 is the best since the first. Is this based on you having seen future episodes? Because I can honestly say that watching so for on C4-pace, I think it's been the worst since Season 2. The tornado episode does admittedly look superb, but the episodes leading up to it have been dull, tedious, and repetitive. There have been a few good moments, but the general feel of the show is a bit...meh. The mystery is dire, has been executed woefully and I really couldn't care less what happened.

And this comes from someone who is a MASSIVE DH fan. It has really disappointed me this year. I'm hoping it does pick up, because I really want it to.


I agree. They very nearly lost it after Season 2 when Sky bid for both it and Lost. Something tells me Sky won't bother this time though. I've raised the possibility of Living bidding for it and I think that's quite likely. Channel 4 have already said they've slashed the budget for acquisitions so if DH isn't performing, it makes no sense to spend so much money on keeping it.

But, the officials are known. And the ratings have steadily increased since it was first shown. Initially when it was moved to Five, the Fiver ratings were around the 200,000 mark even going lower than that to 150,000.

But now, Neighbours at 7pm is nearly always getting more than 200,000, even hitting 300,000 sometimes. It's a decent improvement.

Someone asked for Corrie's Wed rating before.

Corrie got 6.5m (39%). I think it's the least watched Coronation Street episode since 2006, when the World Cup was being shown. It's in the bottom 5 Corrie ratings this century. To be fair, it was shown earlier than normal.

Also the whole Uefa Cup coverage until 10.10 which is when it finished averaged 5.7m, not 5.9m reported by Broadcast (that was from 7.30-10.00).

TBH, with Channel 4 pleading poverty at the moment, I wouldn't be surprised if one or two imports will be dropped in order to justify their plea. DH and ER I expect will be kept especially ER as it is the last season but I have a feeling that they will drop WAT and another channel like Five will pick it up.

channel 4 did advertise the series but no very well really... they have advertised this weeks episode though! Its showings on e4 do really well so i cant see them ditching it! the ratimg are down but its still in the top 5 American imports i would say (number 5

As for chammel 4.. they have treated ER badly but it has a stable time on More 4, and they dont really need to show it on C4 so be greatfull!! Without a trace should be on five.. end of! and showing will and grace the final season at 12PM without any advertising was awfull! dont get me started on E4 eith showing Brothers and Sisters at 11 and there bad treatment of One Tree Hill.

C4 needs to get its imports this year, as the ones last year failed...

and If they dont bid for Desperate Housewives season 5 then i think that Virgin media might buy it for LIVING! it would fit well on that channel, and would get good ratings

Yeh, they're very good. They get into the E4 Top 10 of the week. The only shows that beat it are Hollyoaks, Desperate Housewives and Friends. It's doing much better than the previous show in the same slot- BBUSA which was getting around 100,000 viewers. Never seen the show, but it's impressive that the ratings are rising.

Good to see The Inbetweeners ratings are rising as it's a good little sitcom and potrays teenagers in a more accurate light than Skins did.

Was there anything special that made #1 so low? I can guess #2, #3, #4 and #5 is due to the 2006 FIFA World Cup & Euro 2004 respectively.

Yeh- Corrie was shown at 19.00 because the Rugby World Cup was being shown from 19.30. The overnight was very similar to Wednesday's:


This Wednesday's official won't add as much to the overnight as normal because Barb will remove all the Scottish viewers from the official rating, because they were watching an extra half hour build up of the Uefa Cup Final.
