The Family Album show had contractual restrictions meaning it had to be aired by Friday at the latest (I think)!

It was nice to hear the voice over at the end of the 'last' Foyle's war saying that this would hopefully NOT be the last we see of it! Looks like they must be pretty confident that it will carry on post war as has been reported.

With those figures it deserves to do.

Its been interesting to see the impact of switching Beat the Star, a real Saturday night show, with Mr & Mrs, a traditional Sunday type show. It seems to have paid off for ITV. The might have finally realised that its better to offer an alternative to what BBC1 is showing than to chase the same audience.

TBH its a wonder C4's news doesent rate so high its equally as informative as the BBCs without the autocue breaking plus the added benefit of John Snow who has bag loads more charisma Trevor McDonald or George Alagiah has or any of them.

I happen to thik the DM is great and no I'm not a chav in denial who lacks the intelect to read the broadsheets.

This is not true at all. It has proved to be much better than the ITV branded news coverage.

Given the high average for the BAFTAs, Foyle getting 7.3m at the same time, and an exceptionally high figure for the 10pm news, would it be reasonable to assume a very large number of people tuned in to the end of the BAFTAs for Brucie's gong as Foyle finished - something like 9-10m or so - and forced its figures up, and the early part of the News?

It would be interesting to see the breakdowns over the 2 hours - I can't believe it averaged nearly 6m against one of ITV's most viewer-friendly offerings.

News at Ten going 6 times per week would be a good decision. Because it could get good viewers on Sunday from the dramas.

I think the real test will be to see how News at Ten fares in the finals week of Britain's Got Talent. With a lead-in of 10m viewers, if it doesn't beat BBC News, then it surely is a flop. And it should be scrapped. I like News at Ten, but what is the point of having news on both BBC1 and ITV1 at the same time? Especially nowadays with 24 hour news channels. It was a mistake to bring it back in my opinion. It made ITV look desperate I think.

Well if that were the case surely a peak that high would have been reported?

If ITV1 got a 24% peak time share but an all hours share of only 16.2%, their daytime share must have been appauling! Yikes. Even BBC2 might have beaten ITV1 in the daytime.

ITV's daytime share is appalling and needs to improve, though I don't think it's top of their worry list somehow.

Not surprising. ITV1's Sunday daytime schedule is awful. Basically the night before repeated, sandwiched in between a couple of cheapo movies, with any old childrens & local programming thrown in purely to meet Ofcom regulations.

BBC1 isn't much better, the EastEnders omnibus is the only thing that stands out on either channel on Sunday afternoons, except when there's Formula One.

Which will soon be moving to the BBC, I believe.

Next year, it'll be interesting to see what kind of ratings it gets, especially if Hamilton struggles to make an impact this season.

I think it was right for ITV to let the Formula One go. They will be remembered for its best year.

But what do you think could be cheap, but get good shares for Sunday?

Now that is what I call a perfect schedule.

Wogan wouldn't be given an afternoon slot, he'd replace Parkinson on Saturday evening's - it'd be too popular show to place on a Sunday afternoon. Can't see the regional news getting huge viewing figures over the weekend either, especially in ratio with having to employ reporters to do more in depth reporting. I would say they'd prefer a shorter regional programme of around 15 minutes, as they have at the moment. Maybe the regional news followed by 15 minute Creature Comforts or something at lunchtime, with a bulletin also given a 15 minute slot instead of the half hour 5pm schedule for national news?

Then to replace Wogan, maybe bring back a couple more gameshows, which were the bread and water of ITV in the past, say for example 'Bullseye' and 'Strike It Rich'?

Ratings seemed to improve as the night went on indicating people came in late as it was a very nice night. As Corrie's 2nd episode hardly ever beats the 1st in the unnofficials. Also it was 0.5m ahead of EE and also the ratings for the 9pm slot were very strong for the 2 main channels.
