Thanks. I also would prefer the results on Saturday, but unfortunately I think ITV have already made the decision to move the results to Sunday. That's why Sharon Osbourne is apparently wanting more money, on the basis that she has to work an extra day.

Good ratings for Waking the Dead though I agree it should be on Sundays and Mondays. CSI in comparison has really suffered ratings wise due partly to the writer's strike which forced Five to air repeats durng the run and also stronger competition like WTD, football and The F Word whereas CSI: NY has maintained a stable audience throughout the series.

I had hoped Emmerdale's recent fall from grace had ensured its move back to Sunday but seems not.

Ratings pretty much as expected last night. Holby City is really suffering from having the poor lead in from EE-it seems to have suddenly done right down and now on par with The Bill-I'd have thought the Bafta win would have seen an increase in viewers-not decrease.

Waking The Dead has actually performed excellently this year, mainly because it has only fluctuated by around 1 million the whole series and not constantly dopping viewers. I think it's lowest rating is something like 5.8 and highest 6.8.

CSI season finale seems a little low-that too has seen a sudden drop after FIVE had to show some repeats because of the writers strike.

The writer's strike didn't help though I suspect it will return to its normal ratings when it returns in January but TBH I think the current Tuesday Night schedule on Five needs a bit of a rethink.

It is actually the Chelsea Flower Show on BBC2 that has taken the viewers away from Holby.

Really? I think it's extremely solid. They have a factual show in the 8pm slot which provides a nice lead in for CSI/CSI Miami, then a repeat after it will always perform well and then new episodes of Law & Order at 11pm pull in around 1.3 million and a 10-13% share.

Yes that is a factor although it pulled in 5.3 million last week. Obviously another factor is the weather, but the EE/Emmerdale clashes are affecting Holby aswell.

At the moment, i think there are too many documentaries on Five at the moment and it's harming them, perhaps cut down on them and have more factual entertainment shows in the 8pm/9pm slot.

The CSI Miami repeat at 10pm should be moved to Five US and replaced with a US import like Without a Trace or a new US show like The Mentalist, it would definetly boost the share and ratings.

I agree. Sundays and Mondays at 9.00pm in January/February were the perfect times for Waking The Dead.

I do agree that FIVE need more homegrown entertainment shows, because they only seem to produce factual shows.

I can actually see FIVE aquiring Without A Trace soon as it seems CH4 are steering away from the imports and that would be a great companion to CSI. However at the moment the CSI:Miami repeat pulls in excellent figures for them.

I agree considering the ratings that Without a Trace got when it appeared on Five US, I wouldn't be surprised if Five try to pursue it at the LA Screenings but I have a feeling that Channel 4 will try and keep it as performs well on

Also, both House and NCIS could do with companion shows as well as Grey's Anatomy is underperforming and should ideally move to Fiver and Shark has been cancelled so i expect Five will be buying lots of new shows for itself and its digital channels

On another thread I saw that people were speculating that CH4 would get rid of Desperate Housewives and people thought it may move to FIVE and at first I thought it wouldn't work, but actually it could have great potential.

The excellent companion show to Numbers would be NCIS, but as Numbers doesn't air on FIVE and NCIS doesn't air on FIVE US there's a bit of a problem

I wonder which new US shows FIVE will get next as it's been a while since a new new one aired-the last ones were 30 Rock and Californication and they didn't exactly rate very well and are noew moving to FIVER exculsively.

Interesting ideas in that schedule, rzt. I very much agree that Corrie needs to vacate that Wednesday slot once ITV have the England matches as well as the Champions League (which actually has two extra match nights a season under the new deal). The 8.30pm slots don't seem to be going down too well, so shifting to Tuesdays and Thursdays makes sense.

Not too sure about your ideas for The Bill, though. As solidly as it might perform in the ratings, surely it would be restrictive for it to occupy two plum 9pm slots all year round. And with the introduction of 'Sun Hill General' on Tuesdays and Thursdays, that would mean four soaps on Tuesday and Thursday all year round! Surely, even the most committed soap fans would find all that a chore. I really think 'Sun Hill General' would be a bad idea - the last thing ITV need to be doing, if they're serious about reaching new demographics, is increasing their soap output.

I understand what you're saying. But firstly I think although the Bill would occupy two 9pm slots per week, it is better than nearly all of the shows ITV are churning out right now. Yes, ITV do make some really good 9pm programmes, but they also show some rubbish as well. With the Bill at 9pm, they are guaranteed 2 days of the week where they will win that slot (or certainly come very close to winning). Plus it will give a good lead-in for ITV News at Ten. BBC News would still win, but ITV News would probably get higher ratings than what it's getting right now.

Also, "Sun Hill General" would only take 1 hour out of the schedule per week. As I said before, personally I wouldn't want to see it. But I think ratings-wise it could do well, especially after the Corrie lead-in. With Corrie at 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, that would break BBC1's dominance with Holby City in the 8pm Tuesday hour. Also, "Sun Hill General" doesn't have to be a soap- it could be more of a drama, like "House" or "Grey's Anatomy" in USA. It doesn't even have to be a spin off of The Bill- they could name it something completely different and set it somewhere else. Also, although I did say it would be all-year-round, they could maybe show it only in the Winter months, having a break in the summer.

ITV would have a very strong core schedule. Then, they could put their best shows which are not core into the schedules, instead of filler shows which they have done increasingly recently.
