Its good that EastEnders now beats Emmerdale in the ratings overall when they go head to head, but neither of the soaps breaking over 6 million viewers is poor for them. By the Summer they could well be down to 4-5 million apiece - I suppose if ITV1's ambition is to reduce EastEnders and establish Corrie as the No. 1 soap then this is what they will do. However, the cost to Emmerdale seems harsh - they have effectively halved its audience - and unlike EastEnders which is getting stronger and has seen a revival I don't think there is really a way for Emmerdale ever to regularly get 8-9 million viewers again.

[Emmerdale will struggle more theres a few massive storylines coming up in Eastenders over the summer
Mad,may and a massive explotion
Itv need to move emmerdale
It only ever beat Eastenders is the past as Eastenders was going through a bad patch and emmerdale had massive storylines such as Tom king murder

Interesting for Sat, June 7th:

BBC1: http://uk-tv-guide.com/list/BBC+1+London/7+June+2008
ITV1: http://uk-tv-guide.com/list/ITV1+London/7+June+2008

BBC1
1:00pm Derby Day
4:10pm BBC News
4:30pm Euro 2008
7:00pm Doctor Who
7:45pm The National Lottery: 1 vs 100
8:20pm The National Lottery Saturday Draws
8:35pm Casualty
9:25pm To Be Announced
9:55pm BBC News
10:15pm To Be Announced
10:45pm Euro 2008 Highlights
11:30pm Derby Highlights

ITV1
4:40pm London Tonight
4:55pm ITV News and Weather
5:10pm To Be Announced [F1: Canadian GP Qualifying; see http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...postcount=2570 ]
7:15pm Euro 2008
10:00pm Gone in 60 Seconds

I'm pretty sure BBC will pretty much beat ITV on the Saturday, but I think it'll be the opposite on the Sunday.

I don't like looking at these schedules because it reminds me of England's failure

That's my personal schedule, I'll just be watching the sport - the main Derby race, Formula 1 qualifying and some of the live Euro 2008.

Sorry, rzt, you'll have to get use to it for the next month!

The Sunday June 8th looks interesting too. I've highlighted something, which I'm questioning:

ITV1: http://uk-tv-guide.com/list/ITV1+London/8+June+2008
4:30pm London Tonight
4:45pm ITV News and Weather
5:00pm F1: Grand Prix Live
8:00pm To Be Announced
10:30pm ITV News and Weather
10:45pm The South Bank Show
11:45pm F1: Grand Prix Highlights

That website (uk-tv-gude) lists it as two sets of To Be Announced, one from 8-9pm that another till 9-10:30pm. I'm guessing Heartbeart will immediately follow the F1, but anyone have any clue what would possibly be on at 9pm?

BBC1: http://uk-tv-guide.com/list/BBC+1/8+June+2008
4:05pm Songs of Praise
4:40pm Euro 2008
6:20pm Regional News and Weather
6:30pm Seaside Rescue
7:00pm BBC News
7:30pm Euro 2008
10:00pm BBC News
10:20pm The Apprentice

That schedule looks wrong. The footie first game kicks off at 5pm, meaning there is no chance in hell the News can be on at 6:20pm. I would expect that schedule to be re-written so the footie finishes at 7, followed by half an hour of News. I can't see what stops them from just advertising it as Euro 2008 from 4:40 till 10:00, with a short news bulletin at 7:10.

Anyway, ITV1 has a good chance of dominating that night, depending on how the F1 Canada race is (last year there was the massive Kubica crash; and Hamilton won his 1st race); and depending on what they put in the TBA slot.

Did Corrie do it's usual trick of episode 1 finishing late and episode 2 starting early to dent EastEnders?

Yep... only slightly this time though. It finished at 20.01. I think it started early as well.

Thanks, rzt.

EastEnders and the second Corrie knocked down a bit because they were each followed by an unpopular show.

I had a feeling britain's best would be under 3m.

Emmerdale appears to be on a downwards spiral, but its still pulling in respectable figures.

Poor showing from Britains Best. It really does feel like summer now. A lot of the filler material shows will suffer now if the weather is good.
