I wouldn't say hardly ever, but you do have a point here, because recently it had been getting over 3 million after The Duke & Duchess In Hull-it just hasn't been reported in the overnights. Interestingly when it performs decently it's not usualy reported. Just look at the officials and recently it has managed to get into the ITV top 30.

Also after stuff like Taggart/T&R it tends to perform well and I think the lead in does certainly help, not necessarily the RATINGS lead in, but the PROGRAMME lead in. This is why after dramas/documentaries it performs well, but after many football matches it doesn't perform well.

I am not trying to be pedantic but while NAT may average 2.5m it does go as low 2m fairly frequently.”

28 ITV NEWS AT TEN (MON 2200) 3.07

This was a couple of weeks ago after a programme that got 5 million viewers. It got similar figures against a programme with nearly 10 million viewers. So lead-ins don't make that much of a difference - it depends on a lot of factors.

Right, I hope that's true, because if so, I think my prediction in the other thread was true!

Yes, I expected it to be very low. What is ITV1's record Saturday low? I wouldn't have thought it's ever gone much lower (except maybe when a very big National event on BBC1).

I am sorry that I appear to have upset you by simply questioning one of your statements but I thought thats what the forums were about.

Just for the record I do not watch any news programmes and have never commented on the quality of NAT let alone made any statement that could be construed as mocking.

It has, hopefully word of mouth boosts it a bit.

I think what has happened with Big Brother is that last year it debuted high then gradualy nosedised, almost shedding viewers nightly, whereas this year it seems to have a really consistant audience.

been a better show this year so far IMO

didn't watch much of last years (the first one i've rarely watched) as there were too many fame hungry 'i work in PR' types, whereas this years theres more of a mix. Last nights show was entertaining, and the twist has made things liviely without being over-complex (some of their secret rooms, vote people back into the house twists have got too silly in revious years)

i'm amazed that the football peaked at 5.5million, seeing as though it was Poland-Germany.

ITV will be confident of doing well with Italy-Holland (one of the games of the tournament) tonight, with the 30mins of eastenders being the only serious competition.

Seemed to be around 1.7-1.8m if it was on after Big Brother, 1.1m-1.2m if it was on its own.

think it'll work better on a sunday, its audience are less likely to be out than on a friday

also helped that they did (IMO) a great trailer for the move, taking the P out of the 'mail on sunday' DVD giveaway ads, and also Jordan & Peter were good hosts IMO with plenty to say, so the show didn't rely on Alan and Justin so much

I would expect sunday night project will do better because as has been said before, lots of young people go out on friday, and they are who this show would appeal to?

I wonder if SNP holds up during BB I think it could be on Sundays on a pernament basis? This could give Channel 4 a chance to rebuild its Weekend schedule when BB is not on as the only things that pull in decent ratings on a Sunday for them are films.

BBC Two seems to having success with its current Sunday schedule of Ray Mears, Wild China and Dimbleby in Russia and I wonder whether we could the other terrestrial following suit and have newer programmes on Sundays.
