I doubt they'd change its name/slot back to friday

I presume moving it to sunday was a more last chance saloon for the show, getting 1.7million on a friday isn't that great, when you factor in that hosts like Mariah Carey, Kanye west etc won't come that cheap.

Media Guardian article re Euro 2008 contains comparisons with audiences for Euro 2004.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2008...sion.tvratings

Audiences for Euro 2008 are down by quite a large amount compared to the non-England games at Euro 2004.

I would say they are about the same! considering the decline in viewing figures in those 4 years

and also not having England in the tournament affects non-England games. As we would be surrounded by flags, banners, posters, special edition coke bottles etc etc all day everyday...Euro2008 would be right in the publics faces.

like i said, im sure Italy-Holland will do better tonight, as its better teams than Austria, Turkey, Switzerland etc

Can I ask if there are any figures for Primeval marathon which was on ITV3 over the weekend?

That looks very low for ITV1.”

Yes, what a difference a week makes.

BBC Two took a hit from the opera. I can remember the days when C4 used to be prepared to take a hit from showing opera at weekends, but C4 is no longer prepared to take the risks it was created for.

I doubt they'll be reported, but I would suspect it performed well because the all horus shares werre great beating ITV2 on Saturday.

SATURDAY-2%
SUNDAY-1.9%

You'll have to probably wait to see if some of the episodes make the BARB Official Top 10 in 2 weeks time.

To be fair to the Friday/Sunday Night Project, it did suffer from a bit of a crappy lead in with Dirty Sexy Money but it is a staple of the Channel 4 schedule and I cannot see them cancelling it yet.

The Primeval Marathon did well mostly because ITV haven't repeated them like the BBC does with Doctor Who. I wonder whether we could see more Primeval content on ITV3 when series 3 debuts in January.

ITV3 is a great channel with better content than ITV2 but I think it would benefit with orginal commission like US imports, Documentaries and maybe the odd original drama or comedy.

ITV2 and ITV3 are extremely popular and seem to be established now.

I'm not sure (correct me if I'm wrong), but are these all exclusive new programmes-either US Imports or original comissions?

-Numb3rs
-Cane
-Stuart Maconie's TV Towns
-Those Were The Days

I do think more original comissions would work well, but they would have to be well advertised otherwise they may get lost within the repeats. It would be good though for them to buy some of the new US Imports.

I think next they should have a Kingdom weekend, although for some reason ITV are repeating this in a 10:35pm slot after News At Ten-I would have thought a repeat on ITV3 would work better.

Just realised that I made an error when I posted that, thanks for reminding me Zoe.

The original commissions like TV Towns and Great Garden Detectives work well as they relate to the repeats but the newer US imports in my opinion don't really work on ITV3 especially Numb3rs and Cane. Numb3rs repeats on Five US for example do better than new episodes on ITV3. Perhaps if ITV3 does acquire US imports, they should ones that are closer to the demographic of the channel.

More themed weekend or seasons are a must, I believe that they have a Royal Season coming up with repeats of The Queen, Henry VIII and other royal themed dramas although they didn't include the Palace

With the success of Clocking Off, I think ITV3 should buy more non ITV dramas and comedies. Maybe State of Play or repeats of older Inspector Lynley and Silent Witness would work.

I've always wondered why ITV3 show Numb3rs, because it doesn't fit with the channel at all. I think it's a good idea to start buying more none ITV material, because as you say after the success of Clocking Off it would perform great. It also seems there is a market for the old good dramas.

Anyone know what the ratings are like for BBC Switch on BBC2 on Saturday afternoons?

I suspect ITV may have bought Numb3rs and didn't know what to do with it and just stuck it on ITV3. I have no doubt that ITV will drop it once the current season is over and Five US will pick it up for future seasons as it performs well for them. They also have the rights to Series 3 as well.

Gladiators is starting to slump a bit, below 500k isn't very good business.

Should be some interesting ratings tonight - I bet the BBC1 Regional News at 7.30pm gets one of the highest overnight audiences of the night (although BARB won't include it in the officials), and I can see a solid 6m for the Britain Under Water special.

Really surprised how poor the football ratings are, good weather aside. People just don't seem interested, and to be honest, I haven't watched any of it yet other than a few minutes of the Portugal match on Saturday night.

Reckon tonight may be the night people start to get interested in the footie - Holland v Italy was a superb match, i think ratings will get better. Dont think Britain Under Water would do that well, cant see it really getting more than 4m ish.

Yes - Holland v Italy was superb and should get good ratings.

But I'm not so sure about the next few evening matches. The first 3 evening matches have all featured big teams and had players with particular interest to British viewers - ie Portugal (Ronaldo), Germany (Ballack), Holland (Van Der Sar, Kuyt, Van Nistelrooy), Italy (World Champions).

But 4 of the next 5 evening matches are much more low key, not involving any big teams:

Tue 7.45pm (ITV) - Greece v Sweden
Wed 7.45pm (BBC2) - Switzerland v Turkey
Thur 7.45pm (BBC1) - Austria v Poland
Sat 7.45pm (ITV) - Greece v Russia

So I think there is potential for some very poor Euro 2008 ratings indeed over the next few nights. On the other hand BBC and ITV will be hoping that tonight has got people into the tournament and that this interest will now continue.

NB. Fri 7.45pm (BBC1) - Holland v France is the other evening game which is obviously very high profile.
