ITV have an odd schedule in the last week of June.

9pm Monday - Police Camera Action

8:00pm Tuesday Black Market Britain
9pm Tuesday - Doc Martin repeat
10.35pm Tuesday - Kingdom repeat

Whats going on there then?

When is ITV1's next big TV "event"?”

The autumn is going to be pretty good with loads of programmes which have been 'back-logged' till then like Marple and of course the return of Doc Martin. So many things to come up. And Saturday nights on ITV should get good ratings, with X Factor, and Hell's Kitchen should improve on last year.

I like Hell's Kitchen especially when Marco Pierre White fronted it but I wonder whether it would work better as a weekly series like in the US rather than a daily series. ITV1 should experiment with it for one series and if it doesn't work then revert it back to the daily schedule.

Interestingly, Marco is also doing a US reality show for NBC called The Chopping Block which is based on an Australian series made by Granada Australia. I wonder if an British version on ITV1 is on the cards.

If anyone wants any other ratings, request soon. Doesn't have to be last night's ratings.

My predictions for tonight:

Coronation Street (7.30pm, ITV1) ~ 8.4 million viewers; 40% audience share

UEFA 2008 Match of the Day Live (7.30pm, BBC TWO) ~ 3.3 million viewers; 17% audience share

EastEnders (8.00pm, BBC ONE) ~ 7.4 million viewers; 36% audience share

The Bill (8.00pm, ITV1) ~ 3.9 million viewers; 17% audience share

The Apprentice (9.00pm, BBC ONE) ~ 8.6 million viewers; 40% audience share

The Apprentice: You're Fired (10.00pm, BBC TWO) ~ 3.9 million viewers; 19% audience share

The Apprentice: You're Hired (10.40pm, BBC ONE) ~ 3.3 million viewers; 22% audience share

I think The Apprentice final has the potential to do very well tonight and possibly get into the Top Ten Most Watched TV Programmes of the Year - it should definitely peak at over 8.7 million viewers anyway (Required audience for inclusion). Last week's got 7.5 million, so I think an extra million isn't that unlikely given the finals always obviously prove a rallying point for audiences. It will also be interesting to see what is the most-watched programme of the day, Coronation Street or The Apprentice? All in all it should be a good night for BBC ONE with EastEnders on for an hour before The Apprentice. It will also be interesting to see how The Apprentice: You're Hired/Fired affects the audience for Big Brother.

The last Headcases episode was never reported. It would be brilliant if you could get that. A couple of Friday's back.

Police Camera Action at 9pm is a bit random! Is there something else on at 9.30pm, or have they joined two editions together?

Police Camera Action in the 9pm slot Desperation big style

Although Saturday's share has been awful pulling everything down and BGT has been pulling it up, so expect some sub 15% until the X Factor starts.

Probably may add another 0.2m ish, but on Monday it captures the audience who don't like soaps.

ITV wanted it though as it provides substance to a schedule and it's good to have to have 1 hour programmes in the 9pm slot. It also usually pulls in more than 1.7m-joint lowest ever rating i think.

Struggling? If you mean yesterday it's one of it's biggest days with CSI and Law & Order. The homegrown stuff is doing well aswell with The Gadget Show usually pulling in 1 million, Police Interceptors doing well, Megastructures, Cricket. It's hardly struggling tbh-there may be a few flops(kidnapped Abroad), but series soon end and FIVE usually have around a 5% share, which is good for a channel which only lauanched in 1997.

I think Biggest Babies could do well tonight as it has featured a lot in the papers and is more accessible than the Panorama documentaries.”

Although it has the Apprentice final to contend with-probably would have done much better otherwise.

Whilst it doesn't look a lot, that is an exceptional increase for ITV1 in the context of ratings which are generally on a constant downward trend. I would think that is ITV1's best monthly performance (measured by change from prior year) for very many years.”

With the colossal impact of Britains Got Talent stripped across that week I am not surprised that ITV1 scraped a weekly win. Although I would hazard a guess it did not win any of the other weeks in May on all day share. Similarly it probably wont win another week until Im a Celebrity kicks in in November.
Whilst ITV1 share has bucked the trend recently I was amazed at the massive drop after the BGT final results show losing(I think) 10 million viewers or more when Pushing Dasies came on. If you look also at how Trinny and Susannah performed in the 9pm slot (and many other shows in this slot), it does ram it home just how difficult it is to carry momentum in this multi channel age.

May 30th- 22.30- Headcases: 3.6m (19%)
Lead in from BGT helped a lot:
22:30 5.59m
22:35 3.98m
22:40 3.40m
22:45 3.00m
22:50 2.89m
22:55 2.93m

Sorry, dunno your answer to second Q.”

Very close to the 4m barrier there! Hopefully the overnights will break that barrier soon. Lets take a look at the first Tuesday of each series to see how that compares.

BB1- 3.7m
BB2- 3.9m
BB3- 4.0m
BB4- 3.4m
BB5- 4.5m
BB6- 3.9m
BB7- 5.1m
BB8- 4.4m
BB9- 3.6m

So although it is at the bottom of the pile, its still holding well in comparison to some other series. Hopefully the 4m barrier will be broken for Fridays eviction and looking at this years patterns and previous years (found here), it looks very likely.

Note- the figures I quoted are officials, not overnights so BB9 obviously has the chance to go up.

Ooohh

Do you have ratings and shares for:

-Neighbours early morning repeat (5.35am)
-Nightwatch(ITV)
-ITV Nightscreen
-A selection of ITV2's daytime (Not Jeremy Kyle though)

These sort of ratings never get reported and it would be interesting to see the shares. Thanks

I don't think I'm a Celeb will put ITV1 ahead of BBC One, unless they pack the schedule with a few extra Corrie and Emmerdale episodes too.

Anyway, back to BGT week, and the audience share changes since the previous week...

BBC One fell from 20.8% to 20.3%
BBC Two rose from 7.6% to 8.0%
ITV1 rose from 20.3% to 21.9%
C4 fell from 7.3% to 6.7%
C5 fell from 4.9% to 4.3%

The BBC share held up well.

The ITV share increased nicely, made all the sweeter, one would suspect, by the damage inflicted on the C4 and C5 shares.
