ITV have done themselves no favours by shifting the timeslot of Corrie.

Excellent rating for Emmerdale last night. First time its hit 9.0million (as an overnight figure) in well over 6months.

Its had some weird figures this week as well; 7.2, 6.8, 8.2, 8.7 and 9.0.

ITV have really screwed up Corrie's ratings this week; 9.6, 9.3 and 8.8.

It may have given Emmerdale a much needed ratings boost but overall I really can't see why Corrie was broadcast at 8.30pm on Wednesday and Friday. It doesn't make sense!

Well done Emmerdale! 9.0 million is a really good achievement for them, they even beat Corrie on that night! But because Corrie was on later, it probably effected its ratings, it'll go up to its normal audience share once its time slot doesn't keep changing!

Is 9.0 million, Emmerdale's highest rated episode this year?

No. Emmerdale's highest figure this year was 9.86million on Monday 13th March. This is the final figure. I believe the overnight figure was 9.7million. Corrie also scored their highest figure that day too; 12.60million viewers.

Emmerdale has been harmed by being moved as bit this week as well. When it returned to its 7pm slot on Wednesday it started hitting over 8 million. Emmerdale did very well last night and the quality of the show is so high right now that I'm happy with those ratings, even if it was probably because it was in Corrie's slot.

However, Corrie's move to 8.30pm evidently did more harm than good. It wasn't advertised at all and so the ratings were to be expected. At least it's back to 7.30pm from tomorrow, it should never have been moved.

I think they have put Corrie on at 8:30 on Wed & Fri to try to boost the 9pm slot's ratings, the move doesn't seem to have paid off though.

Heartbeat 21:00 5.5m
Casualty 20:00 5.4m
Heartbeat 20:00 5.2m

Good result for Casualty beating the 20:00 Heartbeat.

Brilliant!

Well done EastEnders for yet another xmas at the top proving that, at a time when more people are watching TV, you are still the soap to watch.

For Friday then 9.5m + 0.5m (BBC3) + 3.5m (BBC1 omnibus - 2.9m was the average and the audience usually grows) + 0.3m (Recordings)

That's just under 14million - and it would be a similar number for the others. So thats proof if you ask me that EE is the number 1 Soap.

Of course EE is the number one soap. Facts speak for themselves. The press interest in EastEnders alone proves its the biggest soap on TV.

Of course EastEnders will lose out tomorrow when Emmerdale has an hour special and a 30 minute head start.

It seems that a lot of extra viewers were interested in Pauline's demise but they just couldn't watch the first showing. Surely this is good enough proof that the repeats do what they're supposed to do and therefore should be taken into account more? Thanks to multi channel repeats quite a few people obviously watch shows now when it's most convenient for them and this number of people is only going to increase in the future which is worrying for ITV and I'll explain why in a sec. But when you factor in the omnibus EastEnders is Britain's no.1 soap. The BBC know that multi screening shows is the future and that the viewing figures for a single showing of a programme are becoming less and less important. It's different for ITV who rely on ad revenue so the ratings for a single showing of a show are more important to them.

That's why the BBC never worry about the ratings for EastEnders. When it dips to an irregular low there's normally a good reason for it and quite a few viewers I daresay catch up with the show when it's more convenient for them.

New Years eve or not thats a low rating for both soaps.

Its not that bad for Corrie as they dont have one of their biggest storylines in the soaps history happening - like E'dale does.

EE Omnibus is quite good, being in the top 20 for the day even though all the episodes have been on of the most watched this week.

EE's omnibus ratings doubled which is amazing because like you said it's not like the individual episodes throughout the week had any lows.
