Yes it was, but with the drama of Max and Tanya alongside. There seems to be so many storylines on the go in Enders at the mo, reminds me a bit of the early days.

Here are the official BARB ratings for w/e 17/02/08:

1 CORONATION STREET (MON 2029) 11.72
2 CORONATION STREET (MON 1932) 11.57
3 EASTENDERS (MON 2000) 11.01
4 CORONATION STREET (WED 1930) 10.49
5 CORONATION STREET (FRI 1934) 10.38
6 EASTENDERS (THU 1929) 9.98
7 CORONATION STREET (FRI 2029) 9.66
8 EASTENDERS (FRI 2000) 9.36
9 EMMERDALE (MON 1901) 8.22
10 EMMERDALE (THU 1901) 8.08
11 EASTENDERS (TUE 1930) 7.96
12 EMMERDALE (FRI 1902) 7.78
13 EMMERDALE (TUE 1858) 7.50
14 EMMERDALE (WED 1858) 7.35

Corrie tops the official ratings again with 11.72m for Liam and Maria's Wedding, whilst interesting to see how Wednesday's Emmerdale is the lowest rated episode of the week, rather than the Tuesday episode which goes head-to-head with Enders.

EDIT: - Friday's 20.30 Corrie achieved an overnight figure of 8.6m, but has rose to 9.66m in the officials. Further proof that this episode is adding around 1.0million viewers again, due to start and end times.
That makes great reading corrie is on top form.

If Corrie continues in its present form there is hope EE might over take it this year The gap on Monday's is getting so close now.

Corrie's always top (apart from the rare ocassion, e.g. xmas week), regardless of how good it is. It could be bad, and still people would watch it and be no. 1.

Sad but true. Now the people In charge will see nothing wrong and Corrie will continue to be dire. I think Corrie needs to see its ratings slide for a bit and then maybe it will bounce back...until then tho', they'll think all is good when that is far from the truth.

Corrie could do a 24hr broadcast of Emily Bishop smokin pot in her livin room in a thong and still be on top dosent make it good viewing.

Good ratings last night and a healthy share for EE but in my opinion Corrie didn't deserve such good ratings, they need a drop to give them a kick up the backside.

Its good but people don't know how good or bad an episode is until they've watched it. See how much the 2nd one dropped? There you go. Also if Corries ratings stay like that ^ then you Corrie fans will see no change, that is why I think they need to drop a bit. But as long as my fave soap is doing OK in both QUALITY and ratings then i'm OK.

Well done to Corrie for such a high share- 48% is very impressive these days.

EastEnders did well to get 9.2m. But it's a shame that it doesn't get higher ratings, because it does deserve higher to be fair. I suppose it's just unfortunate for BBC1 that a lot of EE's core audience are out on Friday nights.

Emmerdale did sound. Good news for Echo Beach fans (2.3m 10%) - it's ratings have been steadily rising in recent weeks. I don't watch it, so can't say why.

It staggers me that people continue to watch Corrie in such large numbers. It is absolutely DIRE right now and frankly it does not deserve to be the number one soap. The high ratings also justify these storylines in the eyes of the producers because no matter how bad people say the storylines are, as long as ratings remain high then it doesn't matter. Maybe people will wake up eventually but right now it seems Corrie can serve up a steaming pile of garbage and people will still tune in like drones.

goodf ratings for the soaps on a friday night
it baffles me why corrie get so many viewers the actings throughout the two episodes were auwful and the writing was very bad. But EE core audience is younger and are out on Friday night and are out on friday nights most probably but still it's up from last year and I'm sure when bianca and ricky return , frank week and the exciting branning story it will overtake the dreadful corrie

Coronation st showing ghow its done - yes of course if you want quality drama at its best look towards Eastenders - i'm not saying Coronation St is rubbish it's just the quality has been very low for months and it needs a driop in ratings to make producers see that.
also Eastenders needs a boost to stop people from crtizizing it for no raeson because it is the best soap and everyone is talking about it again.

Very surprised at the Corrie lead.

Its pants. Anthony Cotton is dire. Ian Hyland has some very hard words for the Corrie producers in his News Of The World article today.

Do you have a link to this article? If not, what did he write?

EDIT: I'm just reading it on the other thread.

Good ratings for all shows on Friday. I'm glad that Echo Beach's ratings are slightly rising. It's really picked up in the last two episodes IMO.
