Did they? Looks pretty weak to me considering BGT got near enough 10m.

Worth noting EE was up against The Bill on ITV 1.

That's terrible for EastEnders.

Still the show is having a blip right now.

Hardly terrible! It's poor but remember it was up against another popular drama, The Bill.

Hardly terrible, you want to look at Emmerdale, or that fact HO only get's 1 million. EE episode last not was average, it can't be deaths, high drama all the time.

Well E'dale and H'oaks are not big soaps compared to Corrie/Enders. The better soaps get the better ratings. It isn't as if ITV and C4 are alien to some part of the country.

I don't care what people say. The fact EastEnders has gone back to being a million behind Corrie after months of being just a couple of thousand behind, Tells me people are not liking current EastEnders storylines.

EastEnders fans can make as many excuses as they like but the proof is in the pudding.

i would agree apart from one point, the share between eastenders and the 2nd corrie was only 1%

The hot weather is affecting the soaps and as EE has more of a younger following it's bound to be affected slightly more. Last nights EE wasn't 1 million viewers behind Corrie btw.

For a long time Corrie was 1.5m - 2m ahead. They are still the closest they've been to eachother in years.

I don't think the EE rating is anything to do with storylines at all. The rating is perfectly in line with what they get in previous summer months, it's well known that the pattern is winter ratings high, summer ratings low simple as that.

Also if you look at the I-player homepage, last nights EastEnders is the top viewed once again! I'm sure the BBC3 rating was reasonable too.

Do they show actual viewing figures on the iPlayer page?

Still good ratings there for EE.

Unfortunately not. All it shows is the top 10 "Most Popular" and at the moment last nights EE is 1st with Thursdays and Tuesdays episodes at 9th and 10th respectively.

No they don't. I'd be really interested to know though, and the ITV catch-up player too.

I expect this to become a common trend for a while. Happens a lot in the summer. Doesn't mean EE did badly though - it did have over 1m more viewers. Emmerdale itself did well on Friday. Anything over 6m is good for them whatever the season these days. EE should top 8m in the officials. That isn't bad considering the weather we've been having.

I know for a fact that EE episodes on IPlayer usually get about 100,000 viewers. So, it's not that much, but still a reasonable figure.

I must say, that although the gap between EE and Corrie has widened in the last couple of weeks, it is not necessarily because of the storylines. It's probably due to the younger audience of EE more inclined to go out in a hot summer day. Also, this is confirmed by the record figures the BBC3 repeat is getting at the moment. For the last 2 weeks in a row, EE has averaged 1 million viewers for its BBC3 repeat- the highest ever. Clearly a lot of people who missed the 1st showing are watching this.

We can't say for definite what the reasons are for the gap widening. My reason is a good reason I believe, but as others have suggested it might be due to the storlyines- who knows? But one thing is definite- EE is doing better this year than last year, which is a great improvement.

Just to compare have the ratings for Corrie on ITV2 seen a similar rise?

I'm sure there were some specific Iplayer stats doing the rounds a short while ago. From what I can remember, EE was consistently one of the most popular shows on the service. I think these stats may have been posted in the TV ratings thread over in the TV forum. I'm sure I'm not imagining seeing them.

Nowhere near. Corrie doesn't even top 350,000 for its repeats. A good thing I suppose for ITV as it maximises their first showing audience.

what a load of crap!
for one the quality is on top form in Eastenders atm and theres not even a big storyline running.

2 Eastenders has a lot of younger viewers that go out on friday nights

3.Eastenders is so easy to catch if you miss it
bbc1 sundays,iplayer,tv on demand
aswell as recordings,and a set 10pm on bbc3
Emmerdale,corrie doesn't get that
the reapts move
people know they have a few chances to catch Eastenders if they miss the first showing

But how can BGT get huge ratings when surely a lot of their fanbase is younger viewers who vote in these crappy reality shows.

EE isn't doing so well atm, I'm sure it'll pick up again sometime.

Well done Corrie though.
