It looks like our Katie has decided to give TOTP a miss, deciding it was a poor waste of her now well honed presenting skills and is waiting for something better to come along which will make better use of her assets.

In The PEOPLE today:
Radio presenter Margherita Taylor is the new face of All New Top of The Pops.
The sultry beauty takes over from axed pair Sara Cawood and Lisa Snowdon as part of a £1million facelift for the BBC1 show.

Margherita, former host of Channel 4's Sunday kids slot T4, will start on All New TOTP next month. She will host an hour-long Friday night special at 7 pm.

The presenter knows All New TOTP boss Andi Peters well from their work on London's Capital Radio...........................

She's very wise. You shouldn't waste time on things you're not interested in.

I myself have had to tell David Beckham to stop stalking me and sod off this weekend.

And Justin Timberlake too.....

Nothing at all to do with the fact that Margherita Taylor is a competent and experienced presenter with at least two brain cells to rub together then?

How can anyone have turned down something that wasn't even offered to them?

something which will make better use of her assets?
could you enlighten us about what these assets are?

I agree Tamara the thread title is a bit misleading. Unless there is more to this article that suggests Kate turned the job down. But in the piece of the article that has been posted there is no mention of Kate.

An appropriate thread title would have been something akin to: 'Kate loses out on TOTP's job' maybe.

Kate had her chance on RI:SE. She put into that all the talents that she had, she even performed near- naked in an attempt to keep pervey viewers happy. She failed, publicly humiliating her sorry self day after day. If only she had listened to the wise sages of this Forum.

The BBC, having witnessed all that, never IMO seriously considered her ......................... YABBA, DABBA, DOO. Please excuse me, I am now going to do a little dance round and round my PC to celebrate the demise of Kate 'Another One Bites The Dust' Lawler ... Do I have company?

I wouldn't call more than doubling the figures on R:SE a failure even though they weren't enough to save the show.

If the producers didn't think Kate was up to it they would have got rid of her by now.

The real conformation of Kate's failure will be if , like Alex, she can't get anymore regular television work, in which case like him, she will have to settle for the odd walk on part.

I guess if it is in the Sunday People it must be true.

Very disappointing news if true-I guess we got overexcited and overconfident about that one.

I was worried on Tuesday when Katie re-appeared on her show on Channel 4 as it did not seem to fit the supposed timetable.

Margherita Taylor is an awesome DJ talent and has massive experience-losing out to her is nothing to feel ashamed about.
Go girl!
She is a good choice but it is a very hard challenge-I actually quite like the current format and that seems to be struggling-which surprises me given that I think pop music has never been stronger now than at any time in the 90's-the US is incredible (come on the Strokes) and the homegrown talent is really emerging now.

I am convinced they should move it back to Thursday and have the follow up shows at the weekend-obviousely they disagreed with that.

I guess they have gone for a less adventurous option and chosen experience over charisma.

The ability to read an autocue must have also been a factor.

Agreed -Alex is a genuine talent as we will all see in the next year or so.

Her voice is tremendous and she seems so self assured and grounded for a 19 year old girl.

And yet the producers seem only to happy to keep her on?

Its not a matter of wanting to keep her on surely.

More a matter of no other presenter wanting to be associated with the disaster that is the last days of RI:SE.

Do you mean that lovely "ill at ease" smile?
The short life charisma that failed to attract to RI:SE the millions of people that voted for her to win BB?
As for the gusset... do you expect most women will fall for that one?
