Actually, back to the Tsar for a moment, have you ever heard the Imperial Russian national anthem - Bozhe, Tsarya Khrani! (God Save the Tsar) (from 1833).
It's a really nice choral hymn, it would make a nice replacement, with different words, for the current Southern Irish anthem, if you're reading this Bertie ?

You can stream/download it free from here...

Scroll down a good bit and the best version is this one
MP3 (3.6MB, 1:55, 256kbps) (recorded in 1991)
Just click MP3 to stream or "right-click Save to target" to download.
The best one of the old Soviet/current music one is under Anthem of Soviet Union 1977 next to a picture of Brezhnev
This version is a great full-on Cold War anvil bashing bombastic recording.
MP3 (8.8MB, 3:45, 320kbps) by the Red Army Choir”

Thanks for that link!
I always liked the old soviet anthem. Brings back Olympic memories of red seventies track suits and suspiciously bestubbled "female" shot putters

As they say, the devil has all the good tunes

hurry up and post the links to your latest uploads (i searched brightcove)! ( i have the download links now noted and saved but only for a short while).
