The Star interviewer only asks him because of the rumour already put 'out there' by the DS. The interviewer says rumours in the 'paper', that's why he's asking him. The interviewer won't have just randomly asked him in the hope of getting a scoop

OK ran with the 'engagement' pics and kind of imply it with their headline but not the article, but the DS are the ones that take that and run with it.
