Wow Blackrock - the 99.000 post- and the next big,big land mark is just a 1000 posts away - reckon we should manage that around the end of the year.

Well done everyone. That's an amazing number of posts but we have a great subject in Chanelle.

How right you are AudGal. Unfortunately there are still one or two embittered individuals and ex HM's who've achieved little, (even some who feigned friendship in the past when it suited them,) who take every opportunity to spew out their venom. But they've not held Chanelle back and seem only to cause people to turn against them. I'm sure they'll all have cause for regret in time.

A very hard nut to crack - America, that is, not FC

Maybe MTV are going to show Wannabe Popstar over there. It could save them some money if times are hard.

That was a very appropriate post for no. 99,000 Blackrock ... signed to a US label, wow. Some of the names I spotted there looked very interesting - must have a closer look later.

I don't know what we'll post for no. 100,000 .... maybe just have a mad scramble for it [grin]

Thanks MYK I have see them on the internet, but to have
her on our MTV overhere would be great. I do think she
would do well over here, as she wouldn't be subjected
to the whole " BB8 b/f" background over here.

VH1 is part of MTV and they have a presence over the pond - maybe you should contact MTV at your end and suggest it to them - they are running both of Channell's series almost continuously over here at various times of day. I'm sure that over the pond Channele would endear herself to people and that they would find her quirky humour very refreshing. Hope you manage to get them screened.

Never heard her being likened to Samantha Fox before. That's a new one.

New one on me too ... not all that comparable really, but maybe it gets the message across.

I don't think the comparison is in relation to her figure - but I can remember the time when Samantha Fox was THE typically English newspaper glamour girl who was loved by everyone almost as a National icon. The galmour girl whose name everyone knew and who was viewed as saucy and pretty but never offensive. With the style and amount of Chanelle's coverage in the Star I think she has stepped into the sort of iconic role that Sam Fox used to fill.

I'm not sure many of the target audience for Chan's record in the US will have heard of Samantha Fox.

Surprisingly, Sam had three top 10 hits in the US in the late-1980s, around the same time Chanelle was born funnily enough.

I couldn't whistle any of them, although I do remember seeing her jiggling around on Top of the Pops . . . well, I remember something jiggling around.

I was around for those three top 10 hits in the USA in the late 1980s. Trust me, all anyone in the USA knew about Samantha Fox was that she looked good on MTV and was English. Full stop. Nobody knew or cared that she was a model or anything. We don't even use the term "glamour model" in the USA, and we certainly don't have any "Red Tops." It's a uniquely British cultural phenomenon.

There haven't been many female hit singers who have come to the USA from the UK and been very pretty and photogenic. That's probably why publicists are racking their brains for someone to liken Chanelle to and came up with Samantha Fox, of all people. I'm racking my own brains to come up with a comparison!

Olivia Newton John, Australian
Kylie Minogue, Australian
OK, there were the Spice Girls, but that was a whole girl group and not a solo singer.

One idea I had for the 100,000th post was that we should simply copy the 'Who's posted' list for the thread.
