Well, Buckie has had several entire episodes devoted to himself - what with him being such "a great big bee
YOOteeful girl" - and so lovely in his uniform. They had to throw poor Apollo a bone sometime - as he was supposed to be the star of the show. And he was! For all of five minutes of the first episode.
Daft episode tonight. (Let's face it, Starbuck was the only light in the heavens in the whole series.)
Did Buckie get any information whilst down in the bowels of the planet? What was the purpose of him being lost, in peril and at death's door? (Doubtless it was to turn attention toward him, rescue him and confirm, as if there was serious doubt, that he was the show's runaway star. There simply was no other purpose.) What were Cassie's first thoughts when confronted with the fact that he might have suffocated? "I'm not bovvered", perhaps! Looked like it!
If the city was miles away and Buckie was well and truly lost before the plastic idiot drove all the way back without him, having first conducted an extensive search, and they all hopped in with the oxygen and drove all the way back before hunting for him at length, how haps it that he's still alive and looking beautiful when he only had fifteen minutes to live in the first place? Why didn't Apollo blast the stupid, braindead, surly woman who destroyed two Vipers? How many Vipers do they have? Can they build more? Where do they access their raw materials, (and their water for the turbo-wash, if it comes to that?)
I've a feeling that a goodly few scenes were cut from this episode. It was embarrassingly silly and pointless. BUT! Starbuck was his usual gorgeous self - and that's all that matters.
Apollo does have nice eyes - but that's IT!
All those early shows, (Battlestar, Starsky and Hutch, Alias Smith and Jones, etc)., all featured two young men - one blonde and one dark, and ya picked ya favourite according to taste. The producers miscalculated when they thought public taste ran to tall, dark and, er... slightly handsome. Charming, roguish, adorable and blonde streaked away with it this time.
