I've been on a long journey when it comes to food and diet from when I was 18, when I had a major stomach operation, I had on going trouble till I was 25, and my gluten allergy was diagnosed after being told for some time the stomach pain I had was first of all IBS and then stress related. At this point I weighed 6 1/2 stone.

So I cut out food with gluten, and then eventually most dairy and red meat, as after reading up on it found that given the problems I'd had with my stomach, it would struggle to digest food like that.

As for the macrobioitc diet, ironically quite a lot of that food is loaded with gluten and very bad for me.....barley, bulger wheat, couscous, wheat, rusk, rhy, semolina etc..... however, I do tend to focues on eating 'whole foods' so there are elements of it in my diet.

Macrobiotics does appear to have a diet suitable for specific ailments. Those of the intestinal tract must be mentioned somewhere and suitable alternative foods mentioned. Have you invested in some books?

Here is a link to, and a first glimpse of, Roland. He's shaping up in dad's footsteps as a good basketball player. He reminds me of someone - but it isn't Dirk.

I hope this hasn't been posted before. I have to jump in and out of the thread because of my senile connection.

Yes, I've done a lot of reading over the years, especially while the doctors were busy telling me all my stomach problems were a figerment of my imagination...

I try to incorporate elements that I feel will work within my limitations, I'm still exploring certain aspects of my diet even now....

He doesn't look like Dirk much to me either, not as much as George does anyway. Is Roland the one Dirk thinks looks like David Beckham?

Yeah, though I don't see it myself...

George looks a lot like Dirk, doesn't he?

Hi RG! I like that episiode!

It's very dramatic.....

Yes. (Well, he is his dad.) Roland stands at six feet aged 16. He has the potential to pretty up a good deal in his late teens and twenties, as he fills out. (Although a little bird tells me that 'filling out' is not an imperative much sought-after in the Benedict household.)
