That would appear to be the only logical explanation Chloe!!!!

They are probably in serious negotiations with Dirk right now, desperate to get him back on their show!

Yeah he's in a coma but they r gonna explain how he got to 1973. His colleagues do exist they r not his head. Because there's gonna b a spin off series featuring Gene Hunt & colleagues.
I've got so many theories about it a bit like Lost.

As if! That was never going to happen!

You can't blame Jack for attempting to bellow like a big, tough man, (although I do not define a man as being a 'real' man at all merely by his ability to threaten), but facing an authentic one - one, moreover, older, wiser and skilled in survival pursuits, having vandalized his property, is something Jack would never dare do. Lucky for him, also, that Dirk views the imposition of one individual's will upon another as being unacceptable and so does not impose his own. That is not to say that he would countenance attacks on his person and his property.

In fact, Dirk was a superb role model for Jack and I rather had the impression Jack greatly admired him - even if he would never say so. He watched him constantly, listened to him intently and always hovered in his vicinity. And he was always very impressed! He learned more about everything from Dirk, in the short time he was with him, than I suspect he has ever learned about anything in his entire life. And Dirk had the power to make him want to watch, listen and learn.

Had they been together longer, more may have rubbed off on Jack that would have been beneficial and he would have gained immeasurably and in all aspects from the influence of such an immensely fine man - and a man who has sons of a similar age and so is understanding and makes allowances. Jack was, in any event, exceedingly fortunate in that Dirk was inclusive, non-judgmental and welcoming where he was concerned. Many would have curled the lip and ignored him completely.

I hope, if he does mature sufficiently to know the value of such a man, he will remember something of those things of value that Dirk showed him and be grateful he had the opportunity to learn from a Master.

Interesting point, Hermine....it always puzzled me how Jack could seemingly enjoy and actively seek out Dirk's comapny so much but yet be so nasty about him when he wasn't around and nominated him time after time.....

It's like Jade, isn't it, when she told Dirk she would 'take' the whiskey...as if she could have done that if he hadn't given it to her....

Well you all have a nice party tonight. Unfortunately, due to not having sorted out my broadband at home as yet, I cannot attend. But I will be thinking of you, and Dirk of course! Don't get too drunk.

Urrrgh! I'm so totally lost! I started to work backwards but when I encountered gerbils I thought it best to adjourn for dinner and tidy up the bomb-site that is my desk.

Can you all please slow down a little so that I can catch up. It's not just about quantity, ya know! When I come back ya'll will have disgorged another 1,000 posts and will have slammed the door to the party in my face! Beasts!
