Morning RG - how are you surviving all these late nights?

When does campaigning start in earnest? You're going to be very busy for the next couple of months!

Your local library should have it and if not Smiths stock it. This won't tell you how to compile charts but her accuracy about the different signs is uncanny. She describes each signs characteristics separately for men, women and children - so if you want to understand a partner, someone you work with or want to know what makes your child tick - this book will help you. I haven't read it for years but I still consider it the best and her accuracy will have you laughing aloud.
I wonder if Dirk has read it !”

Thank you nonsuch - I'll check that out - thanks a lot

Morning Late nights are fine - its the early mornings that are the killers Hubby is home this morning so he did the kids - so no jingle bells wake up call

The campaigning has already started - hubby has been out leafletting and such. I think next month is when it'll get really manic. I am trying to remember what happened last time, but I was heavily pregnant and ill on bed rest and such so I don't really recall when it went mad. Though I have always been determined that the kids wont be used for political point scoring.....photo ops and such.....they are gonna help leafletting

Have you told them that yet No, I'm sure they will be happy to help

As a local govn officer, I don't always have a good relationship with our members (though there are lots I have much respect and time for) but I don't think many ordinary people understand the time commitment involved in being a councillor and a really good representative for residents in your ward. It's a much under appreciated job and should be more recognised and respected.

Yeah the kids know and are ok about it - they are good kids.

I think half the problem is that people dont realise that at this level councillors dont get paid.....ours get a yearly allowance.....after tax and NI this works out at just over £400. But when you compare it to everything that gets paid out and when working missed works days etc it doesnt actually cover the expenses we incur. People also think that there are a lot of perks, which of course there isnt.....other than once a year a civic trinity service at the church and a very nice recepetion afterwards paid for by trinity house.

Some councillors put in a massive amount of work with very little thanks.

Good luck with the campaigning RGWT - I agree with you I hate people who use their kids for publicity
I've just had a thought though - if you could find out if there are Dirk fans in your constituency; you could definitely sway their vote by telling them that you and a lot of your friends are known to him If they doubt you, point them to the JJ and The Coach download
But seriously, I wish your husband the very best of luck in the forthcoming elections

I think local government has a real image problem - whether you're a member or officer, people often do not have a high regard for you and form this opinon with very little knowledge of the amount of hard work (and in the case of members largely unpaid hard work) that goes on. And its important work that can make a real difference to the quality of peoples lives and the prosperity of the town or area they live in. Anyway, I'm preaching to the converted - so I'll shut up!

On topic - I really do love Dirk Benedict

Morning everyone

I've just been reading what you were up to last night and I have to say that I enjoyed reading your film commentary, RGWT. Things like, "Some men come in. They look like baddies" made me laugh! Poor Dirk getting his throat cut though

Interesting news about the David Gest I'm A Celeb vote too. I'm not surprised it was a mistake at all...he was a legend.

I agree RGWT - it would be far easier to spot potential Dirk fan voters if you got invited into the houses. One swift look around would give you all the clues you need
1) is there a pile of A-team DVDs on the floor?
2) is the computer monitor displaying DS Dirk Appreciation page
3)does householder look shattered owing to have had very little sleep since CBB started
Anyway, that should be enough clues and a favourable vote will be in the bag

Lol if I go a door looking as tired as I normally do there is no way they are gonna let me inside - they'll probably figure I'll sit down I'll end up going to sleep

Bye Cicero - have a lovely day. I have to go to town now - love going down because the hills are so steep I can run down them without any effort but coming back up is another story.
Bet Dirk has the same problem in Montana!

Yep, had a decent night's sleep (well as decent as you can when you have to get up too bloody early for your own good) so am feeling a lot better than yesterday.

Last night was ok, not great though. My nephew seemed more interested in the pyrotechnics and lighting than the acts though! Judging by crowd noise, I'm surprised that Ray didn't win over Leona because he undoubtedly got the best response. Ben was definitely the best, he was really good. Believe it or not, after Ben, the most entertaining act for me was The MacDonald Brothers...the audience loved them!

Really? I didn't even know she'd gone. Glad we agree on this important matter!

I'll tell you something annoying...weeks of reading and thinking about Dirk every day, watching TAT or random Dirk films before bed etc and not a Dirky dream to be had. One night watching the X Factor tour and, lo and behold, I dream about Ben

Ben's ok but he's no Dirk

I don't think anything untoward happened with Ben but I can't really remember what the dream was about...I just know he was in it
