I would not have a clue how to do a screencap - can a mere mortal do it or do you need expensive computer equipment

I have 23 so far, and I've still got quite a way to go.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's choices, I reckon they'll be a few that keep cropping up.

I learned how to do it the other week for the first time, when I did some Sssssss screencaps. Chloe showed me, it's easy once you know. You just pause your DVD and then go into the toolbar and one of the options is 'screencap' or something like that. Can't explain it very well without it on my screen but it's very simple.

He looks so cute when he's asleep, although the arms crossed thing is quite uncomfortable, I find.

Really stupid question. How do I tell my computer to copy something off the DVD which is a completely different piece of equipment. Or do I run the DVD directly onto the laptop using the little drawer. (you can tell how little I know about the technical side of computing) I work with computers every day but only on the software side, there are people at work to ask if there is a technical problem there.

No it won't be mine either - my number one will definitely be a photo of his face.

Yeah, if you put the DVD in your laptop, it should play through Windows Media Player. Then once it's playing, press pause wherever you want, and then in one of the drop-down menus (can't remember which, possibly 'edit') it should say something along the lines of 'screencap').

Hang on, I'll stick a DVD in mine and check for you.

Good morning Muttley,

Well i have looked at View on my but i dont have DVD features on the drill down menu. Yet another really stupid question - does the menu change when there is a DVD in the drawer. I don't actually have any DVDs I want to screencap at the moment however. Once I have some I'll have a little practice.

Thank you so much for your advice - and so early on a Sunday morning - you're a star.

Quite....

The funny thing about it is that the person who lived here before me used to apparently feed them, so they tended to hang around of a morning, and even now they still turn up from time to time years later making a racket. I put up chicken wire to keep them off the balcony though, so it's just that every now and then they sit on the window ledge and wake me up!

No probs, it's helping keep me awake. Erm, I'm not sure what else to suggest as I thought it would be the same as on mine, is it def playing through WMP, or is it another program? The menus should change once a DVD is put in and starts playing, so that it has features relevant to a DVD.
I'm not much help, sorry, I'm not the greatest with technology either really.

Ha ha - I don't actually like huge flocks of them but just a few cooing on the window sill. Well I can live with that.

--I went to a cafe in Australia nicknamed the 'parrot cafe'. The trees were actually completely covered with red parrots. They just stayed there if you eat your cake and left the crumbs on the plate but if any fell off the plate on to the table or the floor they all swooped down and fought over them.

Never eaten a cake so quickly in my life

I am willing to bet that in reality you couldn't because when it happens it is so loud you can't sleep...see if you'd think the same at 6 or 7am when your trying to get some kip!
