Good morning Dirklings - I have just been reading about your party last night - very amusing and lovely outfits and presents.

I don't know how long I will be able to be on here without my laptop doing something stupid again.

The whole computer problem thing is a really grey area for me. I have had the laptop overhauled and a not inconsiderable costs and bought a new cable but I still keep losing the server 'they' think now it may be the
connection actually in the laptop. I am seriously pee'd off

I think Dirk is due in Holland the week after he was supposed to be in Milton Keynes

Lucky Dutch - but as they are fabulously, friendly people - I wont begrudge them having Dirk to stay

No i dont think he will be a great help on the technological side of things.

It is just so frustrating - the port where the cable is attached seems to be bigger than the end of the cable. The cable wobbles and I lose the connection - I think it is as simple as that.

I can only think of one thing that is worth a try if you know anyone who has a cable the same as yours that you could try.
The reason I say that is I once spent over an hour on a helpline (premium rate) because I couldn't get a new printer to work. At the end of all the checks the helper had me carry out, I still had no luck. He said there is only one thing I can suggest - try someone else's cable if you can because they are notorious for causing problems. I did and everything was fine. Needless to say I took my new faulty cable back to the shop and got an exchange

At the moment I am sitting with the laptop on my lap (go figure!!) trying not to wriggle about too much to jog the cable and so far so good.

However having the thing overhauled and wiped clean means I have lost all the links that I had saved. So I am going to have to try and find them all again

No, not very magnanimous Cicero - it's just that I lived in Holland for two years many moons ago and I owethe Dutch for their many kindnesses - also, I,m been a bit selfish to because I'm not sure I would have got to Milton Keynes in the circumstances

My foot looks more normal this morning and a lot of the swelling has reduced so I hope a few more days will do the trick. At least, the weather is gorgeous so I can sit outside and look at the weeds that have overtaken the garden since I last used a spade

Well I have just been on to the BBC website and there have been earth tremors in Kent - I know Muttley was at your party last night - what on earth was she doing there!!! Answers please!!!!

Yes, I'm definitely coming! I've booked the hotel and everything. I do have the programme for the 3 days somewhere but can't quite lay my hands on it at the moment.
