Good morning - a bit grey here this morning but we had a really good weekend.

I feel so sorry for all those people in the floods.

Yes shocking and there is a serious lack of drinking water in Tewkesbury and other places.

I haven't managed to get through to my cousins who live between the Avon and the Severn in Pershore. I am sure they are okay just having phones problems. I will try again later today.

Let's hope it's only the phone - have they ever been flooded before?

I don't believe so but the Avon is one field away from the bottom of their garden. But the main concern is that with the surrounding roads may be impassable and my cousin has serious health problems.

Good evening Cicero. Well I spoke to them this morning.

They are completely cut off in their village, all three roads out are impassable. They have filled the baths etc with water just in case it is cut off and they are worried about the electricity because my cousin has a lift and an electric wheel chair. Their son-in-law has a small farm and managed to rescue his cows but he lost half of the sheep and the rest are now in their garden. It is a large garden. My cousin's wife was supposed to be going into hospital today for a knee operation but that has been postponed.

She said that she was woken today by the sound of bleeting sheep and helicopters flying over the house.

But at the end of all that they are okay. Thanks for asking.

That all sounds very worrying and really brings the severity of the situation home I hope that they will come through it OK, though there are obviously some very difficult days ahead.

Yes I am sure there are, but they are made of sterling stuff and I am sure they will be fine.
