Hey everyone!
Wow!

What a turbulant few days on here!! I go away for a few days and end up reading about how Unattractive us Pete fans are - not true judging by the lovely pics i've seen - (And I'm hot actually!!

)
& how obsessed we all are (so? what! It's not like we haven't got 'real lives' too, everyone on here is always so busy... rosemary, bless her, has so much going on, she's always running late!! Su runs other sites.. and that's just a couple!

),
...how everyone's got on at the signings - which seem to get better and better,
...all about Pete & Cherry's engagement, spoilers from the book (Micky!! S'ok, I scrolled past really quickly!),
...lots of new 'faces'! (Welcome to you all!

)
And! on this
APPRECIATION thread ....
(which, apparantly, you can't say often enough, yet, ironically can't say because it's now a 'boring 'stock' answer

- but, pointing out the obvious - YET AGAIN for the deliberately ignorant - this has always been an agreed thread type with the mods and DS forum users alike, ie appreciation - negative discussion takes place elsewhere - )
...I would like to yet again point out that, there are many reasons why we appreciate Pete.. we look a little deeper than his comic persona/faces, etc. The main reason we have appreciated Pete (and was not mentioned earlier in a negatice post) is that he has overcome crippling difficulties that make success in life extremely difficult to achieve - and this means the 'little' things', like confidence, making and keeping friends, pursuing interests and accepting/celebrating who you are. As most of you know, i teach kids who have tourettes, ADHD, aspergers, borderline autiscism, OCD, been abused (mentally, physically & sexually), abandoned, neglected (and there are others here who work with/have worked with these terribly affected yoong people - there are mums/dads here too who live with their gorgeous kids who may have some of these disorders). I see the courage that it takes for these kids to change their lives, the support they require to find that inner strength - and it's not bloody easy! Often 2 steps forward, 1 step back.
Pete is a visible voice for ADHD, OCD & (importantly - as it has long been a 'joke' affliction) tourettes. He has put these into the public forum for discussion and awareness and has spoken, movingly & honestly about how these conditions have affected him. He has met kids who share such conditions and really made a big difference to their own self image - 'Hell, if he can do it then maybe I can!!' (said to me by one of my own pupils, by the way, exceot a little stronger than 'hell'!!)
Life if difficult enough for kids these days, without added traumas. Having a champion in Pete is a good thing and why we admire him! And I for one, someone who works with 'problem kids' am grateful for his voice and honesty - will never tire of praising him for this awareness that he has brought about.
Anyway... have a great evening Pete peeps! Loved all the 'love' going on here again and accounts of signings... thanks for that!
