Hi Lindy, glad you like the book. It shows you how Pete became the person he is today, how has had problems all his life with reading and writing etc and it kind of explains alot about why Pete is like he is as well, in terms of not liking to argue and confront people - that it actually causes him deep stress which brings on TS so he takes himself out of those situations. Its such a shame that is makes him physically ill as well when he feels he has let people down too, poor love.

I am reading it again and I am still learning things all the time - very educational!

So great to see this thread's still going strong. I was/am a huge Pete fan and I know I've left it late, but just picked up his biography today and can't put it down! I'm out of touch and had no idea it'd been out so long. I'm gripped and haven't even got to the Pete bit yet! I wasn't expecting it to be so engaging. Moving and funny too - fascinating hearing about his mum's experiences in the music industry and struggles when he was growing up as well.
welcome LindyLupin

i've been reading petes new paperback with the extra chapters and even though i;ve read his autobiography a few times, i'm still learning new things about it, it is such a fascinating read and it describes pete to a tee. I really admire him for what hes been through and how well he has coped with things and come out of it such a lovely and genine guy.
Have you been to any of his gigs LindyLupin or are you planning to go to any, if you are you'll have a brilliant time, pete puts on a great performance.

I've hardly watched this year....I cant stand the constant arguing..there is absloutely no need for it

It makes me wonder how these people function in real life

One thing I really admire about Pete is everything he has been through, and the terrible treatment he has had at the hands of awful bullies ect..he still has time for people and is always thoughtful and considerate ...he never complains and he never expects special treatment

There are a few HM's this year who could learn an awful lot from our Pete

xx

Hiya rosemary ...Hiya everyone

I agree with you completely, after all Pete's been through, to be able to come out of that sort of abuse and bullying and stuff the way he as, and to be such a beautiful person, is wicked, I mean, he could of ended up a really bitter person full of hatred, but he's not, the complete opposite infact, and i think that is very admirable

like you said, he never complains or expects any special treatment, you could tell that, not only from watching him in the big brother, but also from the way he is at his gigs and stuff, and like, when people say to him, do you want to go to the front of the line and stuff, and he doesn't and stuff...Not that it would matter if he did or anything,

I remember one housemate going into the diary room, and like saying that they feel kind of bad and stuff, becuase like, herself, and other housemates are like really shallow and stuff etc, and then you've got pete, who as been through so much and everything, and he doesn't complain at all, and doesn't have a shallow bone in his body.

pete rocks!!!!!!!!!!

bye

As i said yesterday im re reading the paper back version.

Found one paragraph thats really interesting and if read by the people that have commented that his ts dosnt show on the you tubes of him performing it should hopefully explain a few things

Hopefully its okay for me to type this out here.

I was totally in love with dancing and music. Like with drawing it was one of the few activites that pushed the tourettes right out of my head. It was like all the energy went into the music and movement leaving me with no need to tic or shout or twist about. Its a fantastic feeling when im dancing, like my whole body has come alive like I have full control of myself just like everyone else.

Thanks Micky, hopefully that will stop anymore ignorant suggestions. It's a bit like Gareth Gates and his stutter in a way. tehe, what's funny is in between songs when Pete tics his famous w******s, the audience love it! They cheer and scream their heads off like on the FNP. It must be a slightly odd experience for him in a way.

I think people often forget that TS is a stress related condition...and the BB house, however much a person wants to be there, is very stressful on every level..which of course would have had an effect on Petes condition.

Its great to know music gives Pete such relief and he enjoys it so much..for me that is what really stands out on the recent Youtubes is how obviously happy Pete is these days..and deservedly so

Yes I think Pete is alot happier now than when we first saw him, obviously he was in a bit of turmoil when he first entered BB and had very low self esteme and confidence, it was nice to see that grow. Of course I think Cherry makes him very happy as well, bless her.

I think probably Pete gets all the tourettes out before he goes on stage, if you know what I mean, like he did before he sang Sugary love to Richard, he said he had to get it out before he started. It's a very complex disorder, it's hard to quantify why or what he does when he does it.

Thanks for the bebo link kie-kie!

Was great to see Pete on tv this afternoon, nice to see him talking about something that obviously means alot to him. You do have to wonder would that story have ever have been covered on the television were it not for Pete going into big brother last year and raising the profile of tourettes.

I wish I was at Wisbech tonight!

It would be interesting to learn whether more cases of TS have been diagnosed since Petes appearance on BB. With more awareness of the condition comes more acceptance in the future - hopefully. Even Petes detractors (does he have any ) have to admit the excellent job he's done in raising TS awareness.

Are you hoping to go to any of Petes gigs Rosemary? I might get to one and my oldest daughter - not the princess - has said she will accompany me. By the way those pictures of Pete and dodgems haven't surfaced yet. I will chase them up with her as they would be interesting to see.

Its great the way Pete is still raising awareness about TS and finds time even when he is so busy with gigs and every thing else.

Well I can think of at least one person who realised they had it as a direct result of watching Pete, and that really means so much, being fans we have all heard the countless stories by tourettes sufferers who sight Pete as changing and helping their lives, and not just touretters either, lots of people. But even if it had been just one person that's still just one of the best achievements in the world, to effectively save someones life (which are the words that were used by this touretter)

Happy Birthday Dummy! Hope it's a good one! x
