also no offence to people who went but i dont think thi 'stunt' would have given pete any credibility at all and tbh i dont understand why anyone would think it was a good idea

Hi everyone just like to add that Im proud as well to be a Pete fan. Ive got everything crossed that his single does well and have been busy today downloading it. which Ive found differcult and confusing and in the end I had to wait for my son to come home and help me.

When is the official download chart released? I'm all excited

This from the OUCC:

"The official weekly charts are produced each Sunday at 1.30pm. Historically, the BBC has a special relationship with the Official Music Charts and the BBC has first broadcasting rights to the Official UK Singles Chart. The Radio 1 UK Top 40 Countdown is broadcast each week on Sunday evenings."

Think the chart show is on at 4 pm on R1
afaik - there's no 'official' top 100 downloads chart. Pete's appearance on the hmv chart is heartening as they're one of the OUCC's accredited retailers - but just one amongst many. For Pete to appear in this week's top 40 would be pretty gobsmacking and a whole lot more than we can realistically expect.

(would be lovely to see him "bubbling under" tho')

I'd counsel playing the long game...
that is, not making it all about week-one. There are moves afoot to get him airplay and more publicity is coming up soon.
As you've so rightly pointed on so many occasions Electra, without the cash and flash of a major record company it's uphill all the way for Pete.
