charity single sales??? or album sales??? Leona will obviously want the former, but her management will not, they will only want the promotion that comes with it as im sure they dont share leona's kindness and generosity, but rather are focusing on America prep, and selling more of 'spirit', that is the key for them, as a fan im just enjoying the performances she has been doing, and it will chart where it charts, we know its gunna be top 10 and if its top 5 then it wont have been a flop, and album sales have def. increased. gotta remember she doesnt need to get a no1 here, as it is passed of as a charity song, so doesnt attract a lot of criticism for not selling much, equally, once she has become big in america, her international status will def help her future releases, for her management, it is all about the album sales, so i think we should just chilax!! buy the single and let it land where it lands, and just be glad she is doing loads of new performances for us.”

I absolutely agree, we seem to be obsessed with her getting yet another number 1 hit, there are lots of extremely successful artists out there that don't have number 1 hits everytime they release a record. In fact most of them only release albums and don't bother with singles.

Leona has already established herself as a serious singer/composer, each performance is outstanding and her voice goes from strength to strength, she is going to be a major force in the female star firmament, of that there is no doubt.

Whether she mimes or sings live is totally irrelevant, she has already established that she can, sing, and boy! can she sing.

I would personally (however) like her to tone down the vocal gymnastics, we all now know that she can do that, and for her next release it would be nice if she sang something simple, yet from the heart, and preferably one of her very own songs.

Hi Spiidey,

I am back on digitalspy now!

The first midweeks can be very misleading at times because the physicals only include Monday's sales, whereas the downloads include Sunday and Monday.

Over the course of the week, after Leona's performance on GMTV and especially with the Sports Relief show on Friday evening, the momuntum will build up and the sales will be excellent by the end of the week.

Don't understand why 3 versions seem to be appearing in the Top 30 as I understood that this week the sales would be combined. I will definitely buy this single CD as there is a new track written by Leona called You Bring Me Down which I have heard and is excellent, plus the other tracks are different versions to the version on the album.

an estimated 77p from each single sale will go towards Sport Relief!

In the cover of the single it also says

"An Estimated 77p from the sale of this CD will go to Sport Relief"”

Not really. It is one and the same thing. We are talking 'profit' here not total costs. The cost of producing a physical single in the current climate versus the volume of sales these days tells us a lot about why downloads are now included in charts and singles chart sections are disappearing from shops. Unfortuntely that's how things are these days. That's why I said "every little helps".

I think on GMTV all artists mime because the acoustics in the studio are not right for a live performance.

Hi biggeral! Nice to see you here on DS!

I agree, she will rise from now until the end of the week - not sure if #1 is possible anymore but there's a good chance she could make the top 3.

She will be what? 6k behind Duffy if she's at #5 on combined sales, so nothing is impossible.

Well it looks people have heard the singles and said, ooh I liked BL and I like these as well so I will go and buy the album instead of the single.

IMO if they want to shift the single then there is one way to do it, they need to show why people should want to buy the single instead of the album.

She should do a big stonking performance of "You bring me down" on sports relief.

Bleeding Love is holding steady at number 3 on the United World Chart and Spirit is up to number 9 on the UWC album chart.

i prefer it when artists release at least two songs from the album and then release the album

It got no airplay - one performance won't make a difference.

Regardless of all this chart stuff, I would love to see her perform You Bring Me Down. She'd nail it live.

Yup, and in fact because that is occurring (album sales instead of single sales), it is helping Leona, not the Sports Relief charity.

Yes, those are the charts I was referring to. They seem to be updated on Saturday from my experience.

No, all versions of BIT will be merged with the FITS/BIT physical. The only thing not merged will be FITS digital.

Your making excuses. All artists don't mime. Lorraine Kelly always makes a point of stressing when artists are singing live.

I kow this is an apreciation thread & a lot of you won't like what I have to say but it's just my opinion. Leona is doing fantastically well around the world but I'm wondering if her audiences are falling in love with the hugely successful BL rather than Leona. I know as fans you are all mightily excited about her charting around the world particularly in the US but I still think it's all too much too soon, living Cowell's dream & raking in quick mega bucks. She's flitting around without laying any firm foundations, giving very little back to her UK fans. It could be a long time before her fans see anything of her after this round of promotion yet she didn't give them the courtesy of live performances this morning. The midweek position suggests she doesn't have a very large core fanbase. She needs to nuture her UK fans or they might just not be around with the release of album 2.

Yup, all versions of FITS digital won't count towards the BIT/FITS physical.

But how will the FITS individual versions work? Will FITS (album cut) and FITS (single remix) chart separately? Has the latter ever been released in fact?

Are these the 'official' world charts? Indeed, is there even such a thing?
