Anything over 30,000 will be a decent start.

That's fine. There is so much negativity about her outside this thread so it's nice to have one place without it, if you understand.

If she does AI + Oprah, I reckon she'll sell about the same as she sold here (300kish). At my most optimistic I would say 500k but that would be such an amazing achievement for an international debut artist that I wouldn't dream of predicting it. It's really hard to say until she actually lands in the US and we see the public reception to her.

300k in its first week?! No amount of appearances can achieve that for a debut artist I don't think.

I agree with flagpole. Natasha Bedingfield sold 50k and that was her second album.

No disrespect Ravane, but you really need to pull in your expectations. Those are incredible figures even for established artists with a track record of years of success in the US charts. I think I read the other day that the most Whitney Houston has ever sold of an album in its first week of sale is 200,000.

300k isn't really that unachievable. The Oprah effect is absolutely huge in the States. A good recommendation from Oprah to 8 million faithful viewers, plus a performance on AI watched by 30 million, and 300k first week sales starts sounding a lot less daunting.

She is going to have the same problem with any single she releases from the album.

She has sold so many that nobody needs to buy the singles and those that do will go and buy the album anyway.

She still needs to release singles though just to keep her profile high.

None of this applies to the rest of the world, that's where they will concentrate their efforts.

The new Akon track will be a godsend, they can play this off the delux album version.

100,000 would be a great achievement. .

These aren't expectations as such, more like optimistic guesses. I would be chuffed with anything over 100k. Josh Groban was a huge, huge seller after Oprah and I think Leona could end up having a similar type of success. As I said, it really depends how big of a splash she makes. The curiosity factor will bolster her sales a lot.

Natasha B and Leona are two totally different artists with totally different backgrounds. The only link they have is starting out in Britain.

Exactly, which is why I don't agree with people saying "the only song that could get to #1 over here is TAB" or words to that effect.

I seriously doubt she'll have another #1 from Spirit in the UK because of how many its sold here. Just look at Amy Winehouse, most of her singles have stalled in the top 20 but it doesn't matter because of her album sales. I think that's why they went for the charity single; it pretty much ensures her a top 10 so doesn't look like a flop (I've noticed most people consider anything outside the top 10 a flop), it's for a very worthy cause whilst boosting her album sales and keeping her profile up here.

So I don't think anybody should be disappointed with her chart position for BIT/FITS wherever it is and don't expect another #1 from Spirit. Even if TAB is released next, I could see it getting top 20 or top 10 at a push regardless of it being an amazing song. Worldwide however, I think TAB could be up there with BL for success.

Oh dear, looks like "Homeless" and "Footprints" haven't made the US album cut. Chris from LLF posted this:

9. Here I Am
10. I'm You
11. Best You Never Had, The
12. Misses Glass
13. First Time I Ever Saw Your Face, The”

They get their information directly from the record label so I think this will probably be the final tracklist. Homeless and Footprints In The Sand haven't made the album.”

Can't believe they've kept on "Here I Am" which is the worst ballad of the three IMO and as much as I love "First Time", two original songs should have been included over that.

my two fave not in the US album...thats a shame

They probably kept Here I Am because Leona has writing credits on that one, and the fact that Walter A worked on it.

I'm not that surprised about FITS, but Homeless? Even Leona said that's one of her favourites to sing.

Yup you're right, and it's ridiculous. I think they should go for the best songs, they KNOW "Footprints" is hugely popular with people over here. Her voice excels on that and "Homeless" where as it doesn't on "Here I Am" at all.

Disappointed that footprints hasn't made the album. It's my favourite track of the album and I think it really showcases how amazing her voice is.
I think it would of been a big hit over .

I'm thinking that maybe they thought that the album had too many vocal gymnastics and it could be tiring listening to the whole album at once and Here I Am is quite a relaxing song. Quite a shot in the dark, but maybe.

I'm glad "Here I am" is on the CD and "Homeless" is gone. Homeless always gets skipped over here.

lol - just humming to myself......

"first time....ever I saw your face........THE"

Are they definately not on the album or is this from an unofficial source? I cant see them leaving footprints out, it would appeal to a vast majority of americans seeing as its based on that poem which is supposed to be massively popular with christians.

According to Chris, that site gets their info from the label. They wouldn't post a false tracklisting for nothing.

I'm the opposite, always skip "Here I Am". I hope her voice is shown off in the two new songs to make up for it but I doubt it.

OMG how ridiculous! homeless should have definitely been kept over 'here i am' or the 'first time', footprints in the sand was one of the options for the cut, but its ORIGINAL! and the best vocal on there so why keep FTISYF over it- which im not keen on anyway..pfft and 'you bring me down' should of been on there over 'im you'.

I love homeless too
Oh well, these 2 new songs might be even better

Off subject... but does anyone here watch american idol? If so, dya know anyway I could watch it live tonight.. or do you have to wait until thursday aswell?

Exactly. I'm baffled at this decision. Clearly Clive likes "First Time" as he said it shows off her voice at the pre-Grammy party but "Footprints" and "Homeless" show it off more IMO.
