Tell me about it!

I can now get the "drift" of the US version of the album.

This isn't a criticism, but an observation. Does anyone find it difficult to understand what Leona is saying sometimes? I do with Misses Glass.

Lol, yes, quite a lot too!

I'm waiting for a translation for FM atm so I can sing along.

I've posted it here:

I find it quite easy actually. Obviously there are always a few things which are hard to work out but that's the same for every other singer. Sometimes her diction and the way she enunciates is difficult on certain words but I love her tone and the way she sings.

Yeah, she does need to work on her diction.

I've heard versions of Bleeding Love, for example, where the words are obvious, but its not always clear with Leona.

I'm sure its something she's working on.

But I don't mind that. That's just how she sings, there are some version of BL I've heard which are all perfectly pronounced and it loses it's magic for me personally. It's too perfect and not real.

I don't mind it either! I was just agreeing with the observation that its not always easy to make out her lyrics!

I'd take Leona's version of BL over any other version of BL I've heard, including the one I was indirectly referring to (that girl from Pop Idol).

Quote:
“Leona up for a bleeding fortune

LEONA LEWIS’s hit Bleeding Love is at the centre of a megabucks battle to turn it into a major movie theme.

Top Hollywood film companies have put massive offers on the table for three of Leona’s songs — with Bleeding Love the main attraction.

The X Factor winner has been described as the new WHITNEY HOUSTON and her US boss Clive Davis is the man who discovered Whitney.

US movie chiefs want to turn Bleeding Love into the next I Will Always Love You — Whitney’s 1992 hit from smash hit film The Bodyguard.

A source revealed: “A number of huge offers are on the table for Leona’s songs. The bids for Bleeding Love are staggering. They’re into seven figures.

“The offers are for major blockbusters — some just around the corner. It could turn the song into the biggest hit this decade — like a new I Will Always Love You.

“It is unusual for a film company to spend a lot of money on a song unless it has been recorded specifically for the film.

“But, because the song is such a huge worldwide hit — and so perfect for a big movie — they are prepared to make an exception.”

The song has topped charts around the globe, and last week made Leona the first British female solo artist to have a No1 single in the States since KIM WILDE 21 years ago.

As well as her, her bosses SIMON COWELL and Clive Davis, the track’s writers Ryan Tedder and Jesse McCartney will benefit from the deal.

Leona has also been approached to put her name to clothes, make-up and perfume ranges.

During Milan Fashion Week in February, several fashion houses tried to fly her over to offer her sackloads of cash to endorse their labels.

The source revealed: “Leona is now being seen as a brand rather than just a singer.

“She has had some head-turning offers to endorse fashion and beauty products. But she wants to concentrate on her music first, so we won’t be seeing the Leona perfume just yet.”

Although the right film could catapult Bleeding Love towards I Will Always Love You status, it will possibly score highly in the irritating stakes too.

Leona said: “It’s very, very daunting but I’m just thinking, ‘I’ve been given this chance and I’ve just got to go for it.’”

Yet, while she would love to follow in Whitney’s footsteps, I hope she doesn’t take this too far.

Locking herself away in her filthy bathroom and taking crack, for example.”

Wow!!! If that's to be believed that's great news

Although it is The Sun so it may not be true (I'll get a slap on the wrist for saying that from someone, he knows who he is)

And BL featuring in a movie blockbuster would surely propel it back into the lower reaches of the chart when the film was released - helping it edge closer to that magical 1 million sales figure even quicker

Random, but I LOVE the "shoo boo bop" at 2:31 of FM.

Edit: Thanks for the lyrics Adi! I think it's because I'm used to hearing strong Northern accents. LOL

Man I really hope, hope you will forgive me!

I know its day one of its 'release' to us, but I think Forgive Me has much more potential as a single than Misses Glass, and that's notwithstanding the fact that Misses Glass is absolutely fantastic!

I just can't see them going past Forgive Me now as certainly the next US release (those rumours look so promising now) and then/possibly in tandem, worldwide.

I really think it has got world-wide smash written over it. Its so uptempo it would fit perfectly for the summer market, it could even be the next single world-wide, although I would imagine they would want to mine Spirit for at least one more single in the UK and World-wide post BIT, which I would guess at TAB.

Gwen's Sweet Escape did great worldwide, even peaked at #1 on the United World Chart. I reckon Forgive Me would do the same.

definitely, Forgive Me has single written all over it, great beat, catchy hook. Misses Glass starts of too slow to be a single. A single has to be catchy from the start and FM is exactly that. When I listen to FM I picture summer.

If they liked Sweet Escape then they are sure to like FM. It's definitely got single potential or they wouldn't have talked about it so much before it was even heard. Personally, I hope they are both released as singles but Misses Glass is the one I'll be running fastest to the shop for lol! I can just see that doing so well in clubs and radio. A radio edit for summer and some quality remixes for the clubs would be fantastic.

It's funny how Akon had to get himself into the song though. "Konvict" which is his record label I believe, plus he added that sound effect of a lock at the beginning which features heavily in his song "Locked Up".

I don't think the comparisons between Forgive Me and Sweet Escape are that strong to be honest. I did notice the locked sounds that are in "Locked Up" though, hmm, what a coincidence.

I agree about Leona's diction too, sometimes you don't know what she's singing. Like in BL, I always though it was "rush/race that comes with your embrace" but it turned out to be "risk". I don't mind it really though, I love her voice despite all that. Anyway, it kind of proves that she doesn't concentrate on the technicalities of singing all the time, which is a tired old argument that people reiterate to try and say she doesn't sing with emotion.

Speaking of emotion, again she sings so emotively in MG and FM Especially at the end of FM, she sounds like she's on the verge of tears or like she's already crying.

Yeah the "rush/risk/race" thing annoyed me for ages as I didn't know which it was lol. I think it's more obvious in her live performances to the studio version.

And I totally agree, she sings with emotion and isn't perfect all the time contrary to what some might say.

I haven't had an opportunity to get on this thread in the last few days, and when i do both her US tracks have leaked

I love both Misses Glass and Forgive Me. Having said that, like others have said i do find it difficult to make out what she's singing sometimes. It kind of grates on me especially when they've had an opportunity to re record and make sure she pronounces things properly. I know some will say that she likes to be able to match her studio recordings, but it still grates.

I sort of find that she sounds like someone with a speech impediment singing the songs above (no offence intended by saying this!) I can't remember who said it first but if she sang the songs in the same style as Paradise im sure they would be even better.

I know this is just my opinion but to me its as important to make out what she's singing as it is listening to her making the high notes.

me me me *holds hand up*

BTW - I'm betting one of those songs they want for those films is "Yesterday". You can just imagine the setting.

I don't see how these two lyrically emotional songs could be sung like Paradise. Paradise is a happy song, it's about the perfect day so obviously she sings it upbeat and joyous. It just wouldn't work for these, she has to sound emotional seen as though she's talking about infidelity and insecurity.
