Well I certainly agree with the comments about there being a need to win over new fans. However, rather than put so much faith in an as-yet-undisclosed single release, I personally think the boys would be better off performing Eye on the Sparrow at the Barfly and other upcoming gigs. This song is a deeply harmonic, pure, unadulterated gospel piece that few people are aware of. It is stunning not only in the simplicity of its melody, but in the harmonies the boys put to it, and especially in that it is the only song choice which fully highlights the vocal range and scope that Anthony is capable of, and what sets him apart from the vast majority of other singers.

Fans will only be won, and kept, by consistent solid performances of unique songs with well-arranged harmonies and professional-sounding vocals.

... as long as they sing SSD as well to show off Jay's vocals!

... and MTK to show off Danny's and David's!

that will not earn them any new fans. A new and mind-blowing vocal like EOTS will. Argue it till you're blue in the face- a song like EOTS is light years ahead in every sense of any of the other songs ER have ever performed.

They just need new songs I think, and we will have them soon hopefully.

I have to agree with that, EOTS is one of the most stunning vocal pieces I have heard. If they turned up at Barfly and sang that and nothing else i would still go home happy !

Sorry Rhicel but I certainly believe SSD would win them MANY new fans... as well as EOS... It's about the fun and energy and charisma and diversity as well as pure vocals... I will argue it until I'm blue in the face, no problem... Too much of one style of song won't win them fans. They are not one-trick-ponies because there are FOUR of them...

Spot on, Julie!! What is most important is that they sing songs that people haven't heard ad nauseam before and give them their unique ER style and vocal quality...

EOTS is unlike any other song they sing, and in fact unlike anything else currently being played on the radio. you're right- too much of the kind of song which hasn't been arranged professionaly or harmonically and is more focussed on giving 3 of them the chance to "hip-thrust" and prance about breathlessly will most certainly never earn them new fans.
It's impossible to overdo songs in the style of EOTS because they haven't sung anything similar to it before and it's quite a unique song itself.
Here's a challenge which will probably never come to fruition but may stress the point I'm trying to make:

Take recordings of SSD and EOTS to several top songwriters and record labels and see which song gets the most attention. Fans are only part of the equation- they eventually move on when they get bored with the same material gig after gig. Interest from the bigwigs in the music industry is what will make a significant impact on the future of where ER go from here. And right now SSD isn't going to get them past the guard dogs of any top names, let alone inside the door.

i have a message from david to tell you if anyone has heard they are singing their new single at barfly then ots not ture they arent going to be singing it as it is not quite finished due to danny being ill, it will hopefully be released at the end of the year or before, and it is an orginal song not a cover verson hope this clears up anything people have heard

Guess what? One of the reasons I like their rendition of SSD so much is that they didn't do any of that!! It was all back to basics singing their hearts out and having fun and nailing it the song perfectly! I don't particularly want an EOS vs SSD contest... that they should do so well on both speaks volume to me...
