Has Brendon or Kelly suggested that they didn't know the rule? No, they are massively proud of themselves. If you suggest that people didn't notice, you'd completely spoil his fun. Wish we could make some sort of case for the O-zone layer that Bruno has to stay in the US, but it's done and over now and I really hope ITT isn't going to go on about it all week. The 2 big stories of Saturday were Gabby going and Matt dancing so well, and while I'm not particularly a fan of Matt generally I shall be really annoyed if Brendon's pointless rulebreaking takes the focus off Matt and Flavia.

I can't quite believe what I'm reading... Seems we went through a Kenny love-fest phase (who saw THAT coming?? Last I saw him he seemed somewhat dull and humourless. Though it may be the tombstone teeth that have put me off. I'm willing to be persuaded....) Then having found ITT to be becoming a bit "samey", we were unanimous in loving the Thursday show, partly to do with Claudia's nail comment and Gethin and a.... what??? I may need a dictionary for this....). And now today we have a battle royale over whether Craig was right, or patronising, or both.....

I understand that...and rightly so...but I'd be interested to know if it's mandatory or discretionary, what the policy is on 'accidental' lifts, whether 'previous' is taken into account etc.

In my experience rules and RTV don't mix well and, to the the extent that they exist at all, they are usually so vague and flexible as to be almost meaningless.

As has been stated on many other threads, the AS is not a dance that is performed in either amateur of pro comps as it is on Strictly. It's a hybrid dance introdcued specially for the show it seems, with it's own rules, so if you do go to the Dancesport website, I'd be surprised if you found any rules for it that comply with SCD.

It is neither the AS Ballroom danced in comps in America (no lifts and only 4 rhythms excluding QS) so that's different.

Nor is it a Professional Showdance routine.

So as far as it can be interpreted as having rules, they are restricted to Strictly, and must have been made up by Len when this dance was added to the schedule in series 3.

To the posters saying that K&B should have been disqualified, that is totally OTT, as I stated in a previous post, an extra lift is classed as an infringement in the only thing I can equate it to - competitive Ice Dance - and in that there would be a 1.00 or 2.00 deduction, not DQ.

Ha! Turns out I was! And a week after writing that post, I definitely did come to admire her Samba very much and thought it the best on the night!

So, those one who look to me like they've got inflatedly high opinions of themselves, despite appearing not to?? Well - I don't think it'll cause too much surprise to suggest Kelly as the number one candidate...! And (please don't lynch me, Kenny fans!) but to me, Kenny shows some signs of the same..... Not about his dancing, just about himself, if that makes sense.
(Not that it's necessarily a bad thing - to be successful in competitive areas, it's got to be good to have a high self-confidence. But some are more up-front about it than others. And some, like "who me?" Kelly are very irritating in their pseudo-modesty, IMO.)

So what does anyone else think? Any other candidates?

After a tipoff I stayed up till 1:20 am to watch a replay of Jonathan Ross with Kelly and Penny.

Found Kelly to be zany and natural, just a harmless kid. She made me smile and relax, no bad thing.

I have just watched the CRH interview, and it made me think (I know, uh-oh!).

Craig says that they are the professionals who judge based on dance ability and we should look at the way they score and vote accordingly. But quite frequently, he (and the other judges, though Len less than the others) judge the dance on the performance (eg ignoring the fact that Emma did no heel leads in her foxtrot last year). Quite often, the judges can't even come to the same conclusion about a dance! How are we then meant to do what they say?

This is a major, major over-reaction! She's not dead, she's not ill, she's just not dancing next week. It wasn't the end of the world when Spoony went out, wasn't the end of the world when Ray went out, won't be the end of the world now Gabby's gone (at least I hope not!) All this 'it's a travesty!' and 'I am soooo shocked!' nonsense is, well, nonsense.

The same thing, sort of, happened with Emma last year (sorry if this seems like I'm picking on Emma. I'm genuinely not, it's just that I've just been watching some old ITT clips and so it's fresh in my mind!) when she was in the bottom 2 and Bruno (...and, bizarrely, Meatloaf) went a bit bonkers saying (paraphrased) 'what more did you want from her? She should slash her wrists on stage. She didn't even leave and he was acting like that!

These judges need to take a serious look at themselves before they start thinking they are the experts who know all and we know nothing. Dance-wise, sure, that's probably the case, but if they are meant to do one thing (judge technically) and then do the complete opposite, and then blame the voters for doing what they're actually supposed to (vote for their favourite, be that the best dancer, the worst, the one who's wearing your favourite colour or the one who likes the same farmyard animal you do), then that's just not on.

quackaquacka, I completely agree re the judges overreaction, although cynical me thinks they're chasing ratings by creating all this durm and strang.

Craig's logic continues to escape me - people should vote the way that the judges tell them to. By that logic, everyone should vote for the top couple, or we should all arrange amongst ourselves to have a carefully choreographed pyramid of public votes right down to none for the bottom couple. I imagine Craig would like just one phone line, that you call and donate money on if you agree with the judges, which everybody obviously would .

I really do picture the judges grinning at each other when they get back to their dressing rooms.

Craig and Len were both annoyed but there a damn good reason for that no one has seemed to mention yet - they're passionate about their dancing. You don't work in a business like that as long as they have if they if you don't absolutely love what you do and I respect them for that. They want the best dancers to go through so it's a good dance show.

Craig, as usual however, seems to have no clue about the public reaction and I can almost guarantee that his 'the public should vote how we say' rant will probably keep the likes of Kate and Kenny in for another week.

Craig and Arlene work with dancers and choreography in west end musicals. If a show has been apparently so well produced that it OUGHT to play to packed houses every night but doesn't -- then Craig and Arlene need to understand why the public disagree. Not for Joe Public to be flogged in Leicester Square, by Craig.

If he fails to communicate to non-dancers (60% of this forum, probably more among viewers) why good dancers are good and bad ones bad, it is Craig's failure. Bernard Shaw who wrote as theatre critic for a while became a most entertaining and eloquent leader of his flock, who went wherever he guided them.
