I think because the final close-up was of his teeth, so maybe he found that a bit weird. He took the rest of it in good humour though.

I would say he says "it's horrible" in a embarrassed but not insulted way

I don't think he hates the teasing I think he rather enjoys it! he must know how teased he will get whene he goes back to the dressing room next season!

I thought his: ''its horrible'' was in half-jest, I don't want him to stop smiling, well Karen may continue to make him do so in training!

It's going to be merciless when he goes back next year. Add to that he's going to Australia in January to 'play' beach cricket for a couple of weeks and I dread to think what they're going to do to him there.

They may ask him to demonstrate the hip swing of his chachacha.

Phew, at least the Aussie's are not known for their sledging.....................

I was looking at some Aussie papers online and they already mentioned his dancing

I know Claudia and the production team were just teasing him, and it seems the viewers lapped it up (esp. his female admirers/viewers/fans!). Karen, let's just say when she's tickled pink, she's a 'goner'.

But from my male-perspective, I thought he felt really very embarrassed and uneasy. Maybe insulted was too strong a word.

I can't help but think maybe he thought, "I trained so hard, and they think I can get away with a smile?". Y'know, I would be hurt if it were me.

Again, this is not meant to be bashing anyone, I actually felt sorry for Mark for the first time.

No I didn't think you were, I felt he was embarrased too I mean the man is bashful by nature and he probably thought he hadn't brushed his teeth or thought there was something on them lol!

I think he's confident enough in his own ability to not actually feel that. He probably did feel a bit uneasy about it, but I think he's coming to terms with something he's never had to deal with before i.e loads of female admirers who are quite open about what they think of him on national telly (Arlene, Tess, Emma etc.)

Methinks Claudia as well.

But to give her credit, she said Mark was a "cut above the others"! I completely agree with her.

Loved tonight's show. Karen and Mark had me in hysterics. Karen is barking Poor Mark did look a tad embarrassed by his smiley feature.

Great to see them having a fantastic time together - eating fruitcake and cleaning shoes.

They have such a lovely warm chemistry about them - aww they just make me feel all soppy

Can't wait to see what they come up with for the samba.

Likewise redkate, loved their montage: Mark cleaning Karen's shoes.... methinks very dominatrix lol, Karen laughing at him etc! And all the giggling during training. Who'd have thought Mark had a sweet tooth, and yeah he did look embarassed by his smiley feature. Probably thought: My god I sure smile a lot!

No one is forced to like emma and darren when they appear on itt
They have their views just like you
She is wonderful in my eyes.

I totally agree, and I'm female, a Mark fan, and have done all the 'thud', no-braing, and generally entranced stuff.

I still recognise that I would find it really uncomfortable if 'Mark' posts were transferred verbatim to female celebs, and written by male posters.

I also recognise that, for a reserved person, the whole 'smile' montage was deeply uncomfortable.

I watched it in a state of schizophrenia. The base instinct me drooled; the higher brain me (still slightly in control ) was cringing on his behalf.

Higher brain says: 'if Spoony and Ola were still in the comp, and they did a piece on 'Ola's secret weapon', with lots of shots of her amazing body (and even more amazing 'what's-holding-them-up?' costumes) would that get past BBC censors, never mind this forum?

I accept that the latter example may encourage male posters to withdraw their posts suggesting that the smile montage might not be the right thing to do . The principle, however, remains.

(I also realise that 'withdraw' in such heated topics becomes a double entendre. Retires in confusion, embarrassment, and disarray )

Honestly the BBC are doing Emma absolutely no favours with this constant promotion of her. Nearly every guest tells us that she is fabulous and it is such a turn off. I have gone right off her since Strictly Come Dancing!! I am beginning to think you have hit it on the nail with your lst comment of subliminal suggestion!!

Yes I remember that horror too. I could not believe my eyes as it was so daft I could not believe that Colin had not said to his profesional dancer, Hey wait a minute, this looks awful. How COULD ANYONE think this displayed his dancing ability!! Erin must have been stark raving mad and for one I agreed with the judges when they said it was suitable only for Brighton Pier!! She gave the competition away with that "routine". Words fail me. I am surprised they asked Erin back as a professional dancer on Strictly.

Regarding Mark, I have been around the block a bit in life and I do not believe that any man who LOOKS LIKE THAT has no idea how attractive he is!! Lets be honest here girls, he cannot be that shy and embarrassed by all this attention, look at his wife!! She is gorgeous and you have to have confidence to approach and then marry a woman who looks like that!! He has hardly gone for the little sensible woman at home, has he!!

I remember saying at the time that Anton must have seen this routine at some point in rehearsal. Why on earth didn't he say something? Erin must have really thought she was doing some different and ground-breaking for the final. I wonder if she still stands by it, and would defend it?

Mark may have been embarrassed yes, but not in an uneasy way, i think he took it with the good humour intended.
