Admin Edit: This thread is a continuation of Strictly Come Dancing...'it takes two'..chat thread..
how do you know Alesha and Matt are the only ones who forgot a routine.
Gethin might have done it to but just not admited it.
Sometimes i think Alesha is far too honest. No one would have even noticed the blip in the foxtrot.
Its a shame Alesha seems adament that shes going this week but in a way i think it'll be good for her as she'll just go out there and treat the dance like its her last.
Matt Di Angelo has admitted that they (M&F) have forgotten bits of their routines and that no-one has noticed. He didn't say which dances, though. Alesha is very honest but I find it very endearing and Matthew does too, as he mentioned it in the VT before the dance off.

Yes, she blurted out the mistake in the paso straight away. She should have kept quiet really.

The trouble is though, you get comments from that Andrea from Loose Women tonight saying she hadnt thought much of Gethin then he came on wriggled his hips and had on a see-through shirt. It is rather insulting particularly as I think waltz (was it?) was so much better danced.
I'm sure there would be complaints if the men kept on about the womens revealing outfits week after week.

When I hear comments like that, that's what makes me think some women out there are only voting him for, if that women thinks like that surley some women out there think that to. I have read other forums where women have been saying they want Gethin or Matt to win because they are fit and they fancy them ect.

It was obvious because, bless her, Alesha has a very honest face...when she makes a mistake it is written all over her face. She could never lie to you I suppose!

Please, enough with the random celebs panel. It's going to get incredibly repetitive if that's the only way they've got of padding out the show this week.

Another lovely interview with Alesha and Matthew - bet the phone lines lit up for them afterwards. Training, esp. AT, looked good so far. I bet they are all feeling really emotional - this is the 'so near and yet so far' week and any of them could go.

I'm sure they are too, unfortunately this is human nature and you cant do anything about it. I did read once that in court cases, the so called good-looking person gets off more than someone who is shall we say, facially challenged.

I think the whole "women votes for the good-looking guys" is quite untrue on these forums - the people here are the most dedicated and hardcore Strictly fans, who can comment on performances unclouded (well, most of the time ) and go into in-depth analysis about things. But for the casual viewers, like the people at my school or people on other forums, I think there is a tendency to vote for people they like the look of. And seeing as the target audience is more female for these shows, plus the fact that men usually are less likely to vote for these things then women, it's not entirely untrue that good looking guys do well. If you consider the beginning of the competition I think there was an element of that, too - Gethin (I'm not trying to pick on him at all) wasn't fantastic at the beginning, until the VW week, but had despite that never been in the bottom two. I really think that people judge him now on merit because he has proved he can dance, but at the beginning I think there was quite a few votes for his appearance.

I think the point I'm trying to make is that while the vast majority of forum members do not vote for such superficial reasons, a lot of the general public do.

the problem for alesha is because she has been pretty much at the top people have never really needed to vote for her. now it has come towards end of the show when she does need the votes the voting public are sticking to people like gethin and matt who they have voted for before.

Yes, I think you're right - it must be nervewracking and emotional, and whatever happens Saturday this amazing experience is almost over... I'M sad, can't imagine what THEY are all feeling!

I'm a teacher in a primary school and most of the children I talk to at the school are voting for Alesha. The boys say she's hot and the girls have said she's really pretty and she has the best dresses but when I ask who is the best dancer they actually say Gethin which surprised me. Pleasantly surprised me but it does show that Gethin is not the only one who may be getting votes for his looks. Alesha is certainly getting votes just for her looks as well in my school

You really are a prissy lot on here.
Dance is all about sexuality. Nothing wrong with a woman wanting to get their hands on Gethin after watching his salsa and voting accordingly.
Emma Bunton certainly did it for me last year.

Well, my mother is supporting Alesha because she thinks Matthew is so handsome. 'Oh, he looks so lovely,' is all she says when she sees them dance. Would Alesha supporters rather she didn't vote? I don't deny people are influenced by looks, among many other things, but this year they are all gorgeous. Why is it only one group of fans that are shallow?

I agree.
What I object to is that apparently you cannot like someone's appearance or compliment it without being accused of voting for just that. Isn't it all part of the package?

If I said I though Alesha was gorgeous wingling her hips would it get the same anger if I said I loved Gethin's bum? No I would be told that I was voting just for his appearance. Its all a bit ridiculous.

I'm sure a lot will depend on who Alesha is in the dance off with (assuming she is). It is, as far as we know, still down to the judges this week, not the public. If she's up against Gethin it could depend very much on how it goes on the night. If she's up against Matt, she could well go through

Hey, look on the bright side folks. Alesha might herself now get the sympathy vote. I think it's now nitty gritty time and it could be anybody, but I agree it will be a travesty if Alesha is not in the final. I'm sure she'd be saved in a dance off against either of the boys, but I do hope it's not Gethin that goes. He could if he's in the dance off against Alesha, or Matt possibly if Matt pulls it out of the bag.

Re. Alesha, I know there's the Zoe/Emma effect, but I actually think Alesha's made herself far more popular than either of those who a lot of people didn't warm to for various reasons, just by being natural and coming across as a normal 'best mate' kinda girl.

So Alesha said 2 dances, didn't she? No mention of recapping a previous dance. Same as Gethin on Radio 5 yesterday. So sounds like they are doing 2 dances on Saturday, which is better than 3.

She said she thought they weren't liked anymore and that she'd been on a journey too. No you haven't Alesha. You were really good at the start and you're really good now. No journey. .
I think that's a bit harsh considering she'd never danced ballroom before in her life and whilst the Latin might be suited to her personality, she's never done Latin before either.

Of course she's been on a journey - they all have.

jtnorth - Please, enough with the random celebs panel...

I couldn't agree more

jtnorth - ...I bet they are all feeling really emotional - this is the 'so near and yet so far' week and any of them could go.

Spot on.
