I knew where Len's spontaneous, ill conceived comment came from while I was watching it. Arlene spoke to the mail on Monday:
"I know John is not making much effort. He just sits there and reads the paper. If it's all about personality why don't the girls just all throw off their clothes and the boys do a comedy dance?"
Of course Len didn't make a good impression and has a history of sporadically lowering the tone with his inappropriate phrases.
It would be so easy to keep himself popular that I am surprised he can't manage it. He only needs to remain dignified, and be the most sympathetic judge. But he's let his roles delude him about his importance and he raises his voice above the other judges instead.
I have to profess surprise about how Craig, a former drag queen and rent boy apparently, affects prudishness recently.
