I remember Alesha CHA CHA CHA of last year better than Rachels of 5 hrs ago.....it was not a memorable dance..at all.

I loved it, absolutely beautiful. Rachel is not my favourite and I hope she doesn't win, but that dance is up there with with the Halfpenny Jive and Ramps Salsa.

As for overmarking I think the judges have done it far less this series than in series 4 or 5.

There is no dance on the 10 range at this stage..........its all very average.

The foxtrot isn't a wow dance at the best of times.
And that was no exception.

I was gobsmacked.

just watching show on iPlayer. R&V dull and boring - but think judges overmarked nearly everyone tonight.

I find Austin a weird little bloke, but his dance was streets ahead of the rest of them - and yet the geriatric judges nitpicked. No consistency in marking, how can CRH give dull Rachel 10 and yet Austin 8.

No, it was worth for 9's.

(I felt the same about Matt's 40 last year, which I think was in part because he managed to remember what the steps were. But I digress.)”

Yes i agree with this.
Second year in row where i've disagreed with the 40 given out.
Saying that i do think Rachels rhumba and Matt Di salsa would have been more worthy of a 40.

Hardly fair given that Alesha has danced her Cha Cha at least 5 times now.

Well, probably not four 10s, but it was lovely and Rachel deserved top of the leaderboard. And it made Rachel and Vincent very happy, so I don't see the point of taking anything away from them.

I liked it, and I cannot dislike Rachel. But I do also agree Rachel is being overmarked to keep her out of the voters clutches. She does not seem to be very popular, which is a shame.

might have been good technically except for a couple of mistakes, but there was no wow factor, it was boring to watch. not worth 4 tens imo

I posted yesterday that I thought it was overmarked a tad and worth 38. I watched it again and I was wrong - it was definitely a 40 for me. Better than the Rumba simply because I could watch it over again unlike the Rumba.

I was mistaken in thinking it had to be high impact for the WOW factor. Vincent achieved all he had intended.

It was a beautifully performed, elegant, romantic and understated dance. For me the key was the floaty song/music chosen. Gave the whole dance a soft, whimsical feel to it. One word, fab-u-lous.

Didn't think it was worthy of the full 40.

Absolutely not! Her frame seemed a bit unnatural and she seemed to be a bit stompy. Also her dress covered her feet so how the hell were the judges meant to mark it accordingly? I remember Karen Hardy being torn apart for that in SCD 3 because her dress meant that sometimes Bill's footwork wasn't seen. One rule for some and one rule for others....

No way. As others of said- to get a 40, it's got to go down in SCD history! Maren's AT and Mattesha's Cha Cha Ch worse? Jill's jive and Maren's salsa the same standard?! I think no!

Oh believe me, it wasn't just you. I'd have thought a 40 dance should have at least a smidgin of wow.

I'm on the fence about the 4 10s
Because the foxtrot hasn't been the dance to get that high marks, it usually is what the less able dancers get there highest score at

It was a foxtrot which first made me fall in love with Strictly, Natasha and Brendan's from series 1.
Rightly or wrongly I do tend to judge all foxtrots since against how that dance made me feel, it was the first Strictly dance to give me goose bumps and 4 years later I still remember it vivdly. Which is remarkable given unlike most of the other Strictly celebs dances, it has only very recently been put up on Youtube.

Natasha and Brendan's Foxtrot

Whilst a day later I have all but forgotten Rachel's Foxtrot, such was the impact it had on me
So for me no it wasnt worth a 40, it may have been technicaly brilliant, im not a dancer I have no idea but I will take the judges word fot it. But imo a 40 dance should not only be technicaly brilliant but it should also have a wow factor and that something special about it, and for me Rachel and Vincent's didnt, normally my family are divided on these things but we were all gob smacked and baffled when Craig pulled out his 10.

Just my perspective on things

No. Four nines. I think the judges are overmarking her to make sure she's not in the bottom two again
