I agree that what i saw was a lovely, impressive performance and did not find it dull. If viewers are watching expecting to be 'wowed' by everything then it is natural that thee will be disappointment.

Not all dances include the opportunity to do explicitly crowd pleasing elements and sometimes when these are used too much it does not work at all (step forward christine & matts cha cha).

Some of the guest pro dances last year left me cold - it is all about personal taste and IMO if forum members are too busy scrutinising footwork and trying to out judge the judges then they are missing the point somehow

And of course there's nothing wrong with being competitive per se, but when there's so little else beyond technical excellence on show (and Rachel is technically excellent), it just seems a bit ... hollow.

I don't dislike Rachel per se - but I said at the start of the competition she'd be the new Emma Bunton, and that's exactly what we now have. The producers have decided she should be in the final and are using the judges to score her so she'll always be safe. Her foxtrot was good but, for me, a significant step back from her rumba. The judges went OTT and, now we have some leaked voting figures (see thread about The People article), we know why - the producers are determined she should reach the final at all costs.

And if somebody is overmarked with four tens, then it doesn't surprise me if people are complaining the dance didn't 'wow' them. It was good - but not that good. It is the producers and the judges who are the root of the problem here - not Rachel herself.

On here I feel that the majority of people are anti Rachel ar have no oppinion of her but today I have taken part in some polls and Rachel is placed as the favourite famale with Christine in second place.

Of course, foxtrot can be interesting. But most of the interesting points are oftentimes achieved when the choreographer break the ballroom hold. Also, if the dance are dance at a faster pace (a 'fast' foxtrot), you can get away with making it 'less boring' but it tends to be more gimmicky, like what Jill did in her foxtrot with Darren.

I like Darren Gough's foxtrot, but it was faster in tempo (often so as to hide the dancer's limitation) too. Arlene once said that you can 'cheat' foxtrot by dancing at a faster pace. This implies that the slower the dance, the more control you need. Perhaps dancing slow (for an amateur like Rachel) means it looks boring?

No you are not making enemies. I am glad you mentioned Jill's foxtrot which may have looked much more crowd-pleasing but lost the polish and lines that I associate with foxtrot.

Do those saying foxtrot is hard to be a wow dance remember Alesha's foxtrot last year. It got people very emotional and a lot of people fell in love with it. The true mark of a champion is to perform a dance brilliantly no matter whether it is subtle or not.

Rachel is fine, but she just does not connect to the dance. Too plastic, too much like dancing with numbers. I have not seen a performance this series I would mark as a 10. Nearly every performance has been very easily forgotten. No wow factor.
Average....very average.

I wouldn't say you were jealous. I don't know you, and there are a lot of different reasons why someone might be disliked.

But as an argument that someone isn't jealous, pointing to another good-looking woman that they liked doesn't work. Jealousy doesn't have to be about looks, and it certainly doesn't have to be only about looks. Even where looks are concerned, relatively subtle differences can matter.
