please help dvd problem?
Not dtt but there must be somebody out there with the tech no how to help me.
I have a crown dvd connected to my tv via a scart lead connected to my video and then an co ax lead to me tv. My problem is some dvds play no problem for instance the free one with the daily mirror yesterday yet others like titanic which i brought from sanity wont, the pictures jump and flicker are often black and white or flikker so you cannot watch them. Also I have tried to play a recorded disc but this wont even load! Do anyone have any ideas the discs all work on friends players so i can only persume its something to do with my player or my set up? |

Connect your DVD player directly to your TV (i.e. not via your VCR) and the problem will go away. |

By the way you've connected it, i'm guessing you don't actually have a SCART socket on your tv. Is that correct?

ALL DVD's players have Macrovision - all players must legally have Macrovision.
If you conenct your DVD Player strait into your DVD Via scart - you will get a screwed signal. Macrovision is in place so people cant record their DVD's to video and sell/give them to people. You must plug your DVD Player directly into the TV. Without a sky box, or VCR in the way. Your mate probably has his DVD Player conencted directly into the TV (How it is supposed to be connected) Macrovision can be removed - but its ileegal |

Some dvd players just don't read your own recorded discs, my own Sony one won't, it will just play prerecorded dvds from the shops and also only prerecorded cds, doesn't recognise cdr, etc at all.

the reason why the disks wont play is that the drive cannot physically see the disk there and struggles to read it.
on some budget players (Cyberhome) you can actually change the drive inside the player, i did in my ADL528, there was a DM126D as standard and i bought a Toshiba SD-M1612 (IDE) computer DVD Rom drive and it now plays everything. Sadly this cannot be done to crown players or many others, so i guess you'll need to buy a new dvd player. Dan |
