She'll be on the Michael Ball show today between 12noon and 1pm. You can listen to it here.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/

If you miss it you can listen again on iPlayer.

I always used to defend her for her passion and devotion to the technique, but she's been downright vindictive and ungracious this series. She should watch tapes of Britannia High and learn some humility.

Good point - totally agree. I shan't be listening to her and hopefully Michael Ball will steer clear of the subject. Also I think the judges should critique the dances on the Saturday show and then keep their opinions to themselves.. Most of the problems this year - IMO - have been because they just can't shut up!!!

Arlene's been crossing the line for ages now.

It astonishes me how she wasent repremanded fr her remarks about poor Ola last yr. Racism if ever I saw it.

Didn't she make some remark about pole dancing or is my memory playing tricks?

Woudln't the show be less entertaining if the judges never voiced any opinions?

I suppose it's possible that all of these shows-with-judges (SCD, X Factor, DOI, etc) have greatly misjudged what brings in and keeps viewers, but it does seem kinda unlikely.

Why?

(I don't even remember what the remarks were.)

Imo, the judges can be as sarcastic and scathing as they choose about the dancing, the performances and even the choreography - that's what they're there for, after all - but the personal comments are unacceptable.

The "Polish pole dancer" comment to Ola last year (I think that's what that comment from Arlene was) and the knickers comment to Christine this year are just some of the comments that have crossed the line and should be reprimanded.

Yes, this is what I was trying to say in my post but the wine probably got the better of me Its the personal comments that really annoy me - and these should not be said and definitely not repeated on shows other than SCD

She says nothing I am interested, or maybe she is doing a PR stunt to save herself.

Ola and Arlene are of the same race, so whatever it was you think she was doing, I doubt it was racist.

Generally speaking, one can be racist towards people of the same race as them!

Yes I did and I enjoyed it.

I thought it was a nice interview. Michael Ball is a huge SCD fan so they did spend quite a bit of time talking about the show and JS. Arlene was OK. She comes across much better when she is relaxed and able to take a bit of time to explain herself. Unlike the excitable and often jumbled soundbites on SCD.

For me the most interesting comments were when Arlene was saying that the judges have no idea who will be on the show - it is all down to the producers. She thinks they do a good job picking a mixture of people and wants it to stay that way. She thought with JS that it had been brilliant to pick him and they all expected him to be an interesting part of the show. However, no one expected the JS story to take over the show the way it did. It sounded as if she thought it had all got a bit out of control but she didn't use those words.

Then they talked about her background, Hot Gossip and her work choreographing WE shows.

It is worth a listen on the i-Player or via the Radio 2 website. Arlene is very interesting.

Oh please!! Christine laughed about it - it was said in fun. What have we turned into? Wilting little flowers or something. Reprimanded by who?

I thought the most interesting thing she said was that she had her youngest daughter when she was 47 years old.

Then I found out she is 64 (sorry if this has already been talked about here - I never keep up). I'm just shocked she is 8 years older than Cherie Lunghi.

Damn she looks good for her age though.

It was out of line - Christine isn't my favourite person but she couldn't exactly have objected without looking like a right sour puss.

Probably because the remark was not actually racist, nor considered so?
