Two person final

I don't understand why the producers are letting this happen. Surely they could let a week carry over of something. I found last years final so very drawn out and anti climatic that the thought of it this year is really ruining the show for me.

It suits them to allow it as it gives them more control.

I thought last years final was great, to be honest, so I hope it works again this year.

It was but thought it would have been even better had Gethin been there too. The quality of the dancing also has to suffer with them having to prepare for five dances.

Just a random thought, do you think Kelly would have made the final last yearhad she not left? (...I rather like the fact Letitia came 4th Lol!)

I reckon Kelly would have finished fourth instead of Letitia but got no further.

Agree about the pressure on the finalists (5 routines, for goodness sake!).

Agreed; her and Brendan were in the dance off the week before she left.

However had Kelly continued to compete; Matt could've gone in the semis and Kelly could've got a final place with Gethin and Alesha

Alesha only needed to be 2nd in the public vote of the semis to get a place in the final as she was top of the leader board.

I suspect Gethin was top of the public vote; however it wasn't enough.

If Kelly was still competiting, I think we would've got Kelly vs Alesha vs Gethin and Gethin would've probably won the show

Because they can select half of the contestants in the Final with the dance off. A 3 person final means they can only control a third of who gets into the final.

It was widely believed that Gethin did not have the lowest public vote in the semi-final last year but that the judges were able to manipulate things so he went in the dance off.

And the rather large flaw in that particular conspiracy theory is this - why not simply announce a two-couple final from the outset? Why start each series (this one included) by stating that there would be a three-couple final and hope that someone drops out?

I really do not place any value at all on any of these conspiracies that are now floating around.
