None of his jokes worked through lousy timing (and poor writing) and he does seem doddery. Do they need a new male presenter ?

How very dare you!

I love Brucie but when his time comes would like Anton to fill his shoes.

Oh please, peterturd.... oops.... petertard even not another thread about Bruce

Yes he's corny, yes he's as old as the hills, but it wouldn't be Strictly without him IMO.

I've always thought Anton would make a good replacement for Bruce. Not yet, though

I've been wondering what he's on.....and whether I could get some!

Seriously, in previous seasons I've often fast forwarded through his intro's & jokes but this year, knowing his 80th candle was on the cake, I was surprised how much more on the ball he was.
Okay, so yesterday he wasn't - but he did have flu.

Well, I agree with you petertard, the old duffer is well past it. And doddery he certainly IS !!

He flew by 'past it' in 1972.

His jokes are poor - and I would like the jokes to go, but I think he is the best presenter for the job. I don't find him doddery in any way. He does make a couple of slips - but it is a live show and not many of them run without any hiccup.

Yes he is a professional presenter, and paid well for it, but does that mean he can't make a mistake.

Like I'm sure a lot of you guys do, I watch SCD and X Factor. Mr O'Leary makes many slips during the show, but no-one calls for his head - would that be because of his age? I sense a heck of a lot of ageism in calls for Brucie's retirement.

I do find him very cringeworthy at times but his impression of a vulture yesterday evening was uncanny.

Bruce is well past his sell by but I'd keep him over the annoying, self centered, superficial and unfunny pratt that is Anton Du Beke.

Why do they insisit on giving him jokes he just doesent pull off? he could do it just saying the words with the (very) odd bit of banter.

As long as when he goes he takes Len with him.

I do like on the X-Factor the way Dermot shuts the judges up and brings it back to the singer...... slash wailer.

His jokes are bloody awful, but somehow, because it's Brucie, they just.............work.

The only person I'd like to see replace him (but not yet) is Tess's other half - the only trouble is, we'd get some "Richard & Judy" moments, which would be worse. I wouldn't like to see Tess go either.

Poor Bruce did not look at all well last night and they should have got someone else to take his place. I would like to see Rosemarie Ford as a stand in.

The jokes don't work, they're absolutely terrible.

And it's not just the fact they're completely awful, Bruce's reaction after he's delivered them just brings things down even further. He either laughs at his own crap joke or makes some lame attempt to gee the audience up after it falls so flat that even they can't bring themsleves to laugh (as they're supposed to do).

I find it so bad, i just can't watch and find myself fast-forwarding all the bits with Bruce in.

He also can't handle any of the off-the-cuff stuff either. Epitomised by Len having to tell him off for spoiling his "Cherry" joke the other week.

Oh and as for the "doddery" thing.....the fact he keeps on going on about it - as only an old doddery person would - only goes to prove the point that he IS doddery. Clearly he doesn't get the irony of this!

He remind me of Laurence Olivier doing Archie Rice, the world's worst music hall act, telling the worst unfunniest jokes in the world.

anyone who has to

a) explain his jokes
b) tell the audience when to laugh

should bugger off IMHO

and did you see him giving his opinion re the Sarge. He was wearing a baseball cap FGS

I've never seen anything more ridiculous in my life, and I've seen my wife naked !!!

He was past it 20 years ago..but as a front man it still works. I dont know why, perhaps its because he takes us back to a more innocent age, and SCD is a family show in the "teatime" slot.

Such a shame really when you see how sharp he was on the Generation Game

Actually, watching ITT the other day it occured to me that Lionel Blair could make a good replacement for Bruce if he ever decides to call it a day. He has that same old school, showbizzy character that i think would work quite well and the experience to carry it off.

Oh my good God no, not Lionel Blair. Seeing him the other night was more OTT than ITT, he never let anyone get a word in edgeways. Can you imagine what the show would be like. The show would be on for hours waiting for him to STFU.

The show is cheesy enough, having Blair would make it unwatchable

Except that it's part of the Brucie act.

It might have been a crime as far a the Fashion Police are concerned, and it might have offended good taste, but that's all. Presumably he was "off-duty", and in that respect he always scrubs up very well indeed when presenting (which is what really matters).
